Tower crane collapse at construction site: 1 person confirmed dead

On October 24, the Department of Home Affairs of Da Nang City informed about a serious work accident that occurred at the Hiyori Aqua Tower Apartment Project, located at the intersection of Le Duc Tho - Ngo Cao Lang Street, Son Tra Ward, causing one worker to die on the spot.

The accident occurred at around 12:30 on October 23. The victim was identified as Mr. Tran Dinh V. (28 years old, from Hoai Huong ward, Hoai Nhon town, former Binh Dinh province, now Hoai Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province). At the time of the accident, Mr. Tran Dinh V. was working on steel on the 2nd floor when the reinforcing cable of the tower crane above broke, causing the crane to break and fall, hitting the victim.

The project investor is Aqua Tower Limited Liability Company. The main contractor is Dinco Construction Engineering Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Hai Chau ward, Da Nang city).

Immediately after the incident, the police, Son Tra Ward People's Committee, Department of Construction and Department of Home Affairs were present at the scene to protect the area, collect evidence, take witness statements and coordinate to investigate the cause of the accident.

As reported by VNA, at noon on October 23, people living near the project (Le Duc Tho Street, Son Tra Ward, Da Nang City) heard a loud noise and saw the crane tower break and fall onto the construction site.

Many people are worried because the construction site is located right on a major road, and the collapse of the tower crane poses a potential safety risk to people and vehicles passing by. Records at the scene show that the tower crane broke in the middle of the horizontal shaft, the shaft head fell onto the construction site, the cable was broken, and there were many materials scattered below...
