According to a VNA correspondent in Thailand, on September 13, in Chonburi province, eastern Thailand, the 13th joint meeting between the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association took place.
This is an annual meeting on a rotating basis to evaluate the cooperation results from the previous year's meeting, and at the same time discuss and agree on long-term cooperation orientations and specific cooperation activities in the coming time between the two associations.
Attending the meeting were leaders of the two friendship associations; Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand; Ms. Saranya Paleewongse, Thai Consul to Vietnam; Mr. Ta Quang Ngoc, former Minister of Fisheries of Vietnam, former President of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association; representatives of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of businesses from the two countries.
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association Sanan Angubolkul expressed his pleasure to welcome and work with the delegation of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, led by Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Thanh, former member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council of the Communist Party of Vietnam , and President of the association.
Mr. Sanan shared the great losses and difficulties that storm No. 3 (international name Yagi ) caused to many localities in Vietnam, affirming that through people-to-people diplomacy activities, he will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, and strive to build the relationship between the two associations into a typical model of people-to-people diplomacy.
Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Thanh expressed his delight at the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries in many fields of trade, tourism, culture, etc., especially the opening of the first Vietnam Street in Thailand and the establishment of two Vietnam Studies Centers at Udon Thani Royal University, Udon Thani province and the College of Asian Scholars in Khon Kaen province.
The President of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association thanked the leaders and people of Thailand for sharing the great loss of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and for showing concern and sympathy for Vietnam's difficulties caused by storm Yagi.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh also sent his condolences to the country and people of Thailand regarding the damage caused by the severe floods occurring in some northern and northeastern provinces of Thailand.
Also attending the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung thanked the President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association and the President of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the leadership with their vision, enthusiasm, and profound social influence, leading the two associations to implement many practical and effective people-to-people diplomacy activities for the prosperous development of the two countries.
Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand will always accompany the activities of the two associations in the coming time, especially towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations.
Over the past year, the two associations have closely coordinated to organize many activities that have contributed significantly to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, such as: exchanging delegations to visit each other (attending the Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum in Bangkok, the 12th joint meeting between the two associations in Da Nang city...), cooperating in human resource training, promoting economic, cultural, sports, public health cooperation, and local twinning...
The two associations agreed to strengthen a number of cooperation activities in the coming time, such as: donating ultrasound machines to the Nam Dan District Medical Center (Nghe An); cooperating in human resource training (through projects such as English training exchange, promoting the effectiveness of Vietnamese study centers, the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association will coordinate and support Vietnamese students to study and intern at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce...); commemorating the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh organized by the Thai Association of Vietnamese origin in Nakhon Phanom province; introducing OCOP and OTOP products in Udon Thani province; local twinning; the 14th meeting of the two associations in Vietnam in 2025.
Within the framework of the working trip, on September 12, the delegation of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association attended the Seminar on the "Three Connections" Strategy between Vietnam and Thailand.
Emphasizing the importance of implementing this strategy, the Thai side affirmed that it will prioritize resources and promote the many existing advantages between the two countries, especially the special relationship between the two peoples, to connect the Vietnam-Thailand sustainable development strategy, for the prosperous development of the two countries and the region./.
