At the training conference, delegates from communes with a large ethnic minority population in 8 districts were exposed to some basic contents on raising awareness of responsibility for the role and position of women and gender equality; raising awareness of gender and integrating gender in activities to support ethnic minority women.

In addition, delegates were also trained in knowledge and skills in propaganda on gender equality, State management responsibilities in coordinating the implementation of gender equality and women's advancement in the locality, gender inequality issues, and integration of contents on early marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas.

Ms. Quach Kieu Mai, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, said: “Through the training course, we aim to foster and equip knowledge and communication skills for officials working on gender equality, creating a strong change in awareness for grassroots officials in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on gender equality and increasing the participation of women in leadership and management. At the same time, we promote the role of prestigious people; mobilize the participation of hamlet and residential area officials in propagating and implementing gender equality in the area.”

2/ The training course was attended by about 100 delegates who are officials in charge of ethnic affairs of the commune, socio-political organizations of the commune, Hamlet Chiefs, Hamlet Party Cell Secretaries, Hamlet Associations, prestigious people and ethnic minorities in communes with a large number of ethnic minorities in 8 districts in the province.
