Pursuant to Plan No. 211/KH-UBND dated October 2, 2024 of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on the implementation of the National Action Program on sustainable production and consumption in 2025 in Ca Mau province, on the morning of May 22, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province coordinated with the Tra Vinh Logistics and E-commerce Training Center (Tra Vinh University) to organize the Conference "Conference on propaganda and information provision to improve capacity for eco-labeling" in Ca Mau city.
Mr. Tran Hoang Em, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion (Department of Industry and Trade) assessed the role of eco-labeling.
Attending the training session were delegates from the Department of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology; Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Areas; enterprises, production and business establishments, and cooperatives in the province.
At the training course, experts from Tra Vinh University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment introduced to delegates the concept and classification of eco-labels; eco-label criteria according to 3 ISO certificates and typical examples of eco-labels. The eco-labeling program is one of the effective tools to encourage businesses to produce cleaner, save resources and limit environmental pollution.

Mr. Tran Hoang Em, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion (Department of Industry and Trade) informed: “Eco-labeling brings many benefits to a number of products and services including: products are protected by the State and certified with legal trademarks; expanding business activities and introducing products to consumers; improving product quality and providing information to consumers; protecting the environment; contributing to changing consumer awareness; contributing to promoting cultural values, tourism and the image of the locality. Eco-labeling combined with traceability stamps helps consumers clearly grasp the origin of product information... Based on that practical requirement, the conference aims to propagate, provide information and improve capacity on eco-labeling; improve understanding of the benefits and implementation process of eco-labeling; strengthen capacity for management agencies, businesses and related parties; contribute to spreading information, promoting environmental action in Ca Mau province”.

In the current context, sustainable production and consumption associated with environmental protection are urgent requirements. The eco-labeling program is one of the effective tools to encourage businesses to produce cleaner, save resources and limit environmental pollution. Raising awareness and capacity for officials, businesses, and the community about eco-labeling is important to promote environmentally friendly products, contributing to the implementation of the sustainable development goals of the province.
