Strengthening the role of Vietnamese and Belarusian women for peace and development

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh hopes that the Women's Unions of the two countries will continue to share experiences in initiatives to promote peace, culture and humanity.

On the afternoon of November 18, in Hanoi , Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh received a high-ranking delegation of the Belarusian Women's Union, led by Ms. Olga Aleksandrovna Shpilevskaya, Chairwoman of the Belarusian Women's Union, Director of the National Branch of the Federal Radio and Television Station "Mir" in Belarus, on the occasion of a working visit to Vietnam.

Welcoming the President of the Belarusian Women's Union and members of the delegation, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized that Vietnam and Belarus have a long-standing traditional relationship, which has been continued to be nurtured by generations of leaders of the two countries.

Over the years, the relationship between Vietnam and Belarus has been constantly strengthened and developed, making an important contribution to the nation-building of each country. In particular, 2025 marks an important turning point in the relationship between the two countries.

During General Secretary To Lam 's state visit to Belarus (May 2025), the two countries agreed to upgrade their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, opening a new phase for bilateral relations in a new era.

The Vice President of the National Assembly believes that the affection between Vietnam and Belarus as well as comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the coming time will certainly open up many new opportunities for the Women's Unions of the two countries.

The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly expressed her pleasure to know that during this working trip to Vietnam, the Belarusian Women's Union and the Vietnam Women's Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Women's Unions of the two countries with three key contents; along with a number of activities in localities of Vietnam.

These activities will contribute to promoting the cooperative relationship between the Women's Unions of the two countries; and be an opportunity to share valuable experiences on national development, including gender equality and women's development.

Giving an overview of the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly taking place in Hanoi, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that the Vietnamese National Assembly is discussing the election for the 2026-2031 term.

One of the important goals is that the proportion of female deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels reaches at least 30% of the number of deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh hopes that the Women's Unions of the two countries will continue to share experiences in initiatives to promote peace, culture and humanity; and actively exchange experiences in political participation to enhance women's empowerment, contributing to the development of each country and the common development of humanity.

The Women's Unions of the two countries will also continue to support each other at multilateral, bilateral and international forums.

Thanking the Vice President of the National Assembly for taking the time to meet her, Ms. Olga Aleksandrovna Shpilevskaya affirmed that Vietnam is one of Belarus's key partners in Asia, a growth engine of the world economy. Over the past 3 decades, the friendship and cooperation have developed in many fields.

Regarding the activities of the Delegation in Vietnam, Ms. Olga Aleksandrovna Shpilevskaya emphasized that the cooperation between Belarusian and Vietnamese women's organizations is expected to make an important contribution to developing the general relationship between the two countries in all fields, including culture, economy and society.

Sharing her impressions of the beauty of Vietnamese women, the President of the Belarusian Women's Union said that women of the two countries have many similarities, both cherish peace and know how to preserve family values, actively protecting women and children./.
