On November 14, Can Tho City will organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality (BĐG) and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023 with the theme "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence".

Right from the beginning of the year, the People's Committee of Can Tho city issued a plan to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality in Can Tho city in 2023, which sets out the task of including gender and gender equality content in the curriculum in the nationaleducation system according to regulations and strives to achieve 80% of the population having access to basic knowledge on gender equality.

In recent times, many activities, programs and competitions to promote gender equality among students have been organized at schools in the city, helping students access basic knowledge about gender equality.

On the occasion of the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023, Can Tho City continues to promote the dissemination of the themes, messages and activities of the Month of Action on local mass media in various forms, suitable for each target group and actual situation such as: Direct communication, propaganda on radio and television systems, grassroots information systems in communes, wards and towns, electronic information pages, social networks... publishing communication products on social security policies, the role of women, gender equality and prevention and response to violence and abuse against women and children.

Ms. Phan Quynh Dao, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City, said: In response to the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023, the City Committee for the Advancement of Women organized forums, dialogues, seminars, workshops, and training courses on contents related to the theme of the Month of Action in 2023; promoting policies to ensure social security for people in general and women and children in particular, and the role of empowering women and girls in promoting gender equality.

For the grassroots models of services for prevention and response to gender-based violence that have been built at the Social Work Center, strengthen coordination with agencies to improve the quality of services to support victims of violence; train and foster relevant knowledge and skills for staff and employees tasked with supporting victims of violence and perpetrators of violence.
