Focus on overcoming landslides and ensuring traffic safety in the Central region

The Vietnam Road Administration has just sent a telegram to Road Management Zones III and IV; the Departments of Construction of Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong; Project Management Boards 4 and 5; BOT investors and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation, requesting them to proactively respond and focus on overcoming the consequences of prolonged storms and floods that are causing landslides and serious flooding on national highways in the Central region.

Accordingly, to proactively respond and promptly overcome the consequences of storms and floods, ensuring traffic safety for people and vehicles through areas at risk of landslides and floods, the Vietnam Road Administration requests agencies and units to urgently review areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding to promptly implement warning solutions to ensure safe and smooth traffic.

Mobilize forces, vehicles, and materials on-site to promptly repair damage caused by storms and rains as soon as possible. At the same time, develop and agree with the traffic police to deploy traffic diversion plans, guide traffic regulation, and ensure safe traffic, especially on routes in mountainous areas, difficult terrain, and high risk of landslides.

It is recommended that the Department of Construction of provinces and cities base on the situation of storms and floods, the level and risk of landslides and flooding of the routes to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant agencies and branches to study and decide to restrict vehicles, especially passenger cars, from traveling at night, when there is a high risk of landslides and flooding; at the same time, develop and implement reasonable traffic diversion plans to ensure smooth and safe traffic...
