According to the New York Post , the Mexican navy ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge in New York at around 8:30 p.m. on May 17 (local time). At that time, the Cuauhtémoc ship carrying 277 people appeared to have lost power while leaving New York for Iceland.

The ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge , sending massive masts crashing to the deck, according to Mayor Eric Adams.
Elijah West, who witnessed the horrific accident, recounted: "The ship went under the bridge and the sails hit the bridge, there were people falling off the sails or clinging to them. Only about 5 minutes later, the police boat arrived, guided the ship to the Manhattan Bridge and started the rescue. It was a terrifying scene."

The accident reportedly killed at least two people and injured 17 others. The victims were transported to the Brooklyn Naval Station, while those in critical condition were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The ship is expected to be moved to Pier 36, the source said. The slightly damaged bridge has been reopened.
Currently, authorities are investigating the incident.
