Cargo ship rescues 1 of 3 people lost contact in Ly Son in the past 2 days

The leader of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province confirmed that one of the three people who lost contact in the waters of Ly Son 2 days ago was rescued by a cargo ship. Everyone is trying to find the remaining two people.

On the afternoon of November 8, Mr. Do Tam Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province - said that he was contacting the ship owner who was said to have rescued one of the three people missing on the afternoon of November 6 in the waters of Ly Son.

Through transmitted images, relatives and the Ly Son special zone authorities identified the rescued person as Mr. Phan Duy Quang (47 years old, resident of Ly Son special zone).

Mr. Hien said he had contacted the captain of the Hainan 39 ship, Mr. Hoang Phu Xuyen.

According to Mr. Xuyen, the ship is from Vinh Tan (Lam Dong province) to Son Duong ( Ha Tinh province).

At 7:10 a.m. on November 8, people on the boat discovered Mr. Quang struggling in the middle of the sea, so they stopped the boat to rescue him. By 9:00 a.m. that same day, Mr. Quang was pulled onto the boat.

Currently, the cargo ship crew has given first aid and given Mr. Quang some food and rest to regain his strength.

Meanwhile, the leader of Ly Son special economic zone said that contacting the cargo ship that saved Mr. Quang encountered many difficulties due to constant congestion.

"We have contacted to get the coordinates of the ship that rescued Mr. Quang so that the search ships can go to the area to find the remaining two people," said the leader of Ly Son special zone.

According to information from Mr. Hien, the location of Mr. Quang's rescue is at coordinates 14028'08N, 109019'29E, in the waters of Gia Lai province. This place is about 100 nautical miles (about 185km) from Ly Son island.

Before that, at about 3:00 p.m. on November 6, a 44-year-old man, residing in Tay An Vinh village, Ly Son special zone, went to Tay An Vinh wharf area and suddenly jumped into the sea. Seeing that, two local people, Mr. Phan Duy Quang (47 years old) and Mr. Le Van Sanh (37 years old) rowed a boat to rescue him.

However, due to big waves and strong winds, all three people were swept away and went missing.

Local video also recorded the scene of the boat swaying in the raging sea and getting further and further from shore.

Upon receiving the news, the authorities of Ly Son island district mobilized Thanh Tam ship (number VT0035) captained by Mr. Dang Van Thanh (53 years old) and many other vehicles to search throughout the afternoon and evening of the same day, but with no results.

At noon on November 7, helicopters of Division 372 (Air Defense - Air Force) were mobilized from Da Nang to the sea of ​​Ly Son (Quang Ngai province) to search.

Along with that, many transport ships, fishing boats, passenger ships... of Ly Son also searched for the whereabouts of the three people but without results.
