(BDO) Kite flying is a traditional activity during Tet. In Binh Duong , every time Tet comes, this activity tends to increase in the community. However, besides the entertainment nature, this activity also has many potential risks of causing electrical safety problems, especially kite flying in areas with power grids, electrical works, etc.
People flying kites should choose locations and spaces far from construction sites and power grids to prevent related incidents and accidents. In the photo: People flying kites at the Saigon River park in Thu Dau Mot City.
Kite flying is an indispensable activity during Tet holidays in many regions of Vietnam. This is not only a form of entertainment but also an indispensable part of folk culture, meaning to pray for blessings and luck for the whole family in the new year. Although kite flying brings a lot of joy, it also has many potential risks, especially the risk of causing electrical safety problems. When kites fly high, they can get caught in power lines, leading to dangerous fire and explosion situations.
According to Binh Duong Power Company (PCBD), in recent years, there have been many cases in the province where people fly kites that get entangled in power lines, causing short circuits, fires, etc. The most dangerous case is that kite flyers without experience in handling the situation can easily get electrocuted, endangering their lives if they intentionally approach power lines or climb electric poles to remove entangled kites. This not only damages electrical equipment but can also cause short circuits and power outages in the entire area, affecting daily life, production, and business.
To limit the situation of kites flying entangled in power lines leading to related incidents, PCBD has requested power companies and high-voltage grid operation management teams to strengthen propaganda and advise local communities not to fly kites near power lines and power stations, which can cause broken porcelain, broken wires, and unsafety for kite flyers.
Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Deputy Director of PCBD, advised people, especially parents, to remind their children not to fly kites near power grid works; not to climb electric poles or use poles to remove kites when they get stuck, but to immediately notify the electricity management unit to intervene to avoid the risk of accidents. People should choose to fly kites in open spaces, without power lines or power stations nearby to ensure the safety of themselves and their children. In particular, when kites or flying objects get stuck in power lines, people need to quickly contact the electricity industry via hotline 19009000 or 19001006 for support and timely prevention of incidents.
Currently, flying kites in residential areas, on roads or near power grids and power stations is potentially dangerous, and can cause accidents not only for kite flyers but also for road users. And people should know that not only stopping at the issue of violations and fines, the electricity industry also specifically warns against metal kite strings, when touching the power lines, the player will be electrocuted; if the kite gets caught in power lines or power stations causing power grid problems, it will also cause great damage to the electricity industry and significantly affect the daily life, production and business of people and businesses, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year 2025.
Wishing everyone and every family to enjoy a happy spring, PCBD recommends that businesses, people, especially children, strictly follow the regulations on protecting the safety corridor of the power grid, not flying kites or flying objects near power lines and power stations. At the same time, people and businesses need to implement safety measures, not be subjective in using electricity to prevent possible electrical accidents. In addition, the electricity industry also recommends that relevant authorities such as the Department of Education and Training; People's Committees of districts and cities... need to strengthen direction and promote propaganda work on the dangers of organizing recreational activities, flying kites near power lines, power stations...; stay away from power grids and other power sources to protect the lives and property of kite players themselves, those around them and society.
For the act of flying kites or any object causing power grid incidents, the administrative fine is from 5 million to 10 million VND, and at the same time, compensation for damages when incidents occur according to State regulations. In particular, cases causing serious incidents, fires, widespread power outages, electrical accidents, etc. will be prosecuted according to the provisions of law. Therefore, when kites or flying objects get caught in power lines or power stations, people should quickly contact the electricity industry via the Customer Service Center hotline 19009000 - 19001006 for timely support and prevention to avoid related incidents causing damage. |
