Thach My received the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces"

Receiving this title is a source of pride and great motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Thach My commune (Loc Ha, Ha Tinh ) to continue to strive to overcome difficulties and develop their commune further.

On the morning of February 1, the Party Committee, government and people of Thach My commune (Loc Ha) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024) and receive the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces".

At the ceremony, delegates listened to the leaders of Thach My commune review the difficult periods and the development of the commune. Accordingly, Thach My is a homeland rich in revolutionary tradition, the people are patriotic, so the locality has a Party cell quite early with Da Hoach cell established on August 28, 1930 (with 7 party members) and Huu Ninh cell established on September 22, 1930 (with 10 party members).

During the first years of the Party's leadership, Thach My commune organized 35 large and small demonstrations to fight against the colonialists and feudalists to abolish heavy taxes, reduce main land rent, end secondary land rent, redistribute public land and postpone debts for the poor.

The struggles and demonstrations collected 1,021 quan of money, 403 Indochinese silver coins, 242 bushels of rice (equivalent to 2,420 kg), 14 acres of rice fields... The collected assets were divided among the poor, a part was kept to buy weapons and build the movement.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the army and people of Thach My heroically stood up to fight. The Party Committee and the people of Thach My always upheld the spirit of "steady hand on gun, steady hand on plow", "not a pound of rice missing, not a soldier missing".

During the 10 years of the US's destructive war (1965-1975), the whole commune mobilized 1,250 people to fight the enemy, 257 of whom participated in the frontline laborers, Youth Volunteers, and local militia and self-defense forces, participating in nearly 10,000 days of combat duty and combat service.

During the arduous and fierce fighting of the great national defense wars and the noble international mission, the people and armed forces of Thach My contributed a lot of effort, sweat, and blood. The whole commune had 156 children who heroically sacrificed, 14 Vietnamese heroic mothers, and 227 people who were wounded and sick soldiers of all ranks.

In recognition of such dedication and sacrifice, the Party and State have awarded many noble prizes and titles such as: 1 Third Class Military Exploit Medal, 4 excellent emulation flags; 1,303 collectives, individuals and 79 families were awarded medals of various types by the State.

In particular, on October 17, 2023, President Vo Van Thuong issued Decision No. 1209/QD-CTN on conferring the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" on Thach My commune. This is a source of pride and great motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Thach My commune to continue their efforts to develop.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Ha Van Hung and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau presented congratulatory flowers and awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the President to the Party Committee, government and people of Thach My commune.
