Thailand earned nearly 3 billion baht from renting out film sets to film crews in the first five months of the year.
According to statistics from the Thai Film Office (TFO), 47 provinces across the country have become the filming locations for 186 foreign films. The majority (46 films) were filmed in January, followed by 45 films in February, March dropped to 41 films, April was 39 films and May had only 15 films.
India leads the way with 22 films shot in Thailand in the past five months, but Japan is the biggest spender, spending 68 million baht. Bangkok is a popular location for film crews, with 123 films shot in the Thai capital.

According to him, the preferential discount policy is the main reason for this success. In January, TFO announced that any project with a set rental cost of over 560 million baht would receive a 15% discount. Foreign filmmakers would receive a further 5% discount if they promote "Thai culture and tourism" to the world . The maximum discount is 150 million baht per project.
Thailand is also aiming to become one of the top 5 locations in Asia chosen by filmmakers.
