In the period of 2020 - 2025, the City Women's Union at all levels will promote tradition, unite to overcome difficulties, innovate ways of doing things, bring the emulation movement into depth, bringing about clear results. Comrade Pham Thi Thuy Hai , Vice President of the Women's Union City talks with reporters of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television about this content.

- Could you tell us about the new features in implementing patriotic emulation movements of Hai Phong women in the period 2020 - 2025?

- Over the past 5 years, the implementation of patriotic emulation movements of Hai Phong women has had many innovations in content and organization methods.

The City Women's Union closely follows the Central Union's direction, concretizing the emulation criteria suitable for each group of women and the actual conditions at the grassroots level. Each emulation period is associated with major events of the country, the city and the Union, with specific output targets, helping the movement not be a formality but go into substance.

The Association also strongly applies information technology in propaganda and organization of activities, helping to spread faster, wider and more effectively.

The mark in the competition is that the Association at all levels focuses on mobilizing and integrating resources from many programs, projects, and social activities to support members in improving their knowledge and skills.

The emulation movement of Hai Phong women is closely linked with major programs of the Central and the city such as "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas", "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind", "Promoting lifelong learning in the period 2023 - 2030", but still has its own women's color.

Emulation and commendation work is timely, substantial, and promotes advanced models. In the past 5 years, 9,574 collectives and individuals have been commended, demonstrating the strong spread of the emulation movement throughout the Association system.

- What outstanding results have been achieved by the innovations in implementing patriotic emulation movements of Hai Phong women?

- Hai Phong Women's Union at all levels launched and widely implemented patriotic emulation movements among women of all walks of life in the city. Notably, the movement "Building Vietnamese women of the new era" has been deployed since 2022, with the participation of many women in Hai Phong, aiming to perfect the criteria of "having health, knowledge, morality and responsibility".

Women in the city also actively responded, participated in connecting and mobilizing resources to effectively implement the program "Accompanying women in the border areas", social security, demonstrating responsibility to the community.

The Association at all levels presented more than 108,000 gifts worth nearly 47.6 billion VND to women and children in need; sponsored 2,068 orphans, cared for 2,000 children in need with a total cost of more than 31.5 billion VND; mobilized to build and repair 229 charity houses, in which the Association at all levels supported more than 21 billion VND.

Hai Phong women also demonstrated a high sense of responsibility in environmental protection by participating in planting more than 131 thousand trees, effectively maintaining 359 women's waste collection groups, and 297 environmental protection models. At the same time, they actively mobilized 4,500 member families and women to donate 70,700 m2 of land to build rural roads...

The campaign "Building a family of 5 no's and 3 clean's", piloting the model of "Family of 5 yes's and 3 clean's", associated with the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", "Building new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been widely deployed, contributing to affirming the role of women in building a prosperous, happy, progressive and civilized family.

Up to now, 100% of the Association's bases have established 967 parenting models for the comprehensive development of children, with nearly 20,000 members; implemented 1,364 projects and tasks contributing to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas; helped nearly 13,000 households achieve the criteria of "5 no, 3 clean" and "5 yes, 3 clean". The whole city effectively maintains 1,468 "5 no, 3 clean" Clubs with more than 125,000 members.

The Women's Union at all levels actively supports women in economic development, helping more than 49,500 poor and near-poor households and supporting 1,909 households to escape poverty and near-poverty; supporting more than 1,800 women to start businesses; improving the capacity of more than 2,000 female business owners, cooperatives, and production and business households. Effectively exploiting and managing capital sources to support women members to borrow for economic development, the total outstanding loan balance managed by the Women's Union through channels is more than 6.3 trillion VND with 122,873 households borrowing.

In the movement of learning and creative work, Hai Phong women constantly improve their qualifications, knowledge, skills, boldly apply technology, adapt to digital transformation and international integration.

The Association at all levels organized more than 2,000 training and communication classes on policies, laws, life skills, digital transformation, green transformation and dozens of competitions and festivals attracting thousands of members to participate.

It can be said that the movements really go into depth, the role of women in family and society is increasingly affirmed.

- Besides the achievements, what difficulties and limitations does the movement have that need to be overcome in the coming time?

- Along with the remarkable results, there are still some limitations. First of all, the propaganda and dissemination of the meaning and content of the competition in some places is not regular, extensive, and has not really reached the awareness of all members.

Resources for emulation and rewards are still limited, mainly based on the budget and membership fees, not mobilizing many socialized sources; updating data and discovering new factors is not timely; the replication of typical examples is still lacking in diversity. In addition, although digital transformation in emulation and rewards has been implemented, it is not uniform and has not really promoted comprehensive effectiveness at the grassroots level.

- In the new period, what goals and solutions does the Association set to continue promoting the patriotic emulation spirit of women in the city?

- The goal of the City Women's Union is to bring the patriotic emulation movement of Hai Phong women to a new stage of development in a creative, substantive, and widely spreading direction.

First of all, the Association continues to thoroughly grasp President Ho Chi Minh's patriotic emulation ideology, synchronously deploy the Law on Emulation and Commendation and Directive 34-CT/TW of the Politburo . Each movement and each model must be associated with the political tasks, economic and social development of the city and the practical needs of women.

The Association also focuses on emulation associated with digital transformation, green transformation, circular economic development, encouraging women to start creative businesses, and sustainable economic development.

On the other hand, the Association at all levels focuses on building a team of Association officials with solid professional skills, enthusiasm, dynamism and impartiality, considering this a key factor for the emulation movement to go into depth. The work of inspection, supervision, evaluation and reward is carried out seriously, ensuring publicity, the right person, the right job.

The Association strengthens coordination with the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels, launching emulation movements associated with major social issues such as environmental protection, social security, building advanced new rural areas, and civilized urban areas.

Each Association base must become a "competitive nucleus", each member must be an "inspirer of action", contributing to building Hai Phong into a modern industrial city, with sustainable development, civilization and happiness.
