Can Tho City agrees on merger plan with 32 communes and wards remaining

According to Mr. Chau Viet Tha, based on Conclusion No. 37 dated March 28, 2025 of the Politburo and Secretariat on the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels and the construction of a two-level local government model; Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW dated April 12, 2025 of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee; Resolution No. 74/2025/NQ-CP of the Government dated April 7, 2025 on promulgating a plan to implement the arrangement of administrative units and the construction of a two-level local government model and the Conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee at the meeting on April 14, 2025, Can Tho city will merge with Hau Giang province and Soc Trang province to establish a provincial-level administrative unit, named Can Tho city, with the political-administrative center located in Can Tho city today.

Regarding the current arrangement and merger of commune-level administrative units, Can Tho city has agreed to merge the current 80 communes and wards down to 32 communes and wards (16 communes and 16 wards). Specifically as follows:

(1) Tan An Ward merged with Thoi Binh Ward, Xuan Khanh Ward (Ninh Kieu District) and took the name Ninh Kieu Ward, the political - administrative center was located at the headquarters of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee.

(2) An Hoa Ward merged with Cai Khe Ward (Ninh Kieu District) and a part of the natural area of ​​1.83 km², population of 330 people of Bui Huu Nghia Ward (Binh Thuy District) named Cai Khe Ward, the political - administrative center is located at the headquarters of An Hoa Ward People's Committee.

(3) Hung Loi Ward merged with An Khanh Ward (Ninh Kieu District) and was named Tan An Ward, with the political and administrative center located at the headquarters of Hung Loi Ward People's Committee.

(4) An Binh Ward (Ninh Kieu District) merged with My Khanh Commune (Phong Dien District) and named it An Binh Ward, with the political and administrative center located at the headquarters of An Binh Ward People's Committee.

(5) Binh Thuy Ward merged with An Thoi Ward, Bui Huu Nghia Ward (Binh Thuy District) and took the name Binh Thuy Ward, the political - administrative center was located at the headquarters of Binh Thuy District People's Committee.

(6) Long Tuyen Ward merged with Long Hoa Ward (Binh Thuy District) and was named Long Tuyen Ward, with the political and administrative center located at the headquarters of Long Tuyen Ward People's Committee.

(7) Tra An Ward merged with Thoi An Dong Ward, Tra Noc Ward (Binh Thuy District) and took the name Thoi An Dong Ward, the political - administrative center was located at the headquarters of Thoi An Dong Ward People's Committee.
