After the launching ceremony in Binh Quoi ward, 9 working groups of various forces went to Thanh Da apartment building to mobilize people to dismantle the "tiger cages".
This is one of the apartments built before 1975 and is now in disrepair. Many residents have arbitrarily reinforced and expanded the balcony with fixed iron frames, which poses a potential safety risk. After being informed, most residents agreed and accepted to remove the frames to increase the family's ability to escape in case of fire or explosion.
According to Mr. Mai Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Quoi Ward, the ward has 23 apartment buildings with about 3,553 households, of which about 1,000 households have installed fixed iron frames.
We both mobilize and equip people with full knowledge and skills in handling, rescuing, and saving lives.
Lieutenant Colonel Do Quang Phu, Captain of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team of Region 16, Department PC07, said that recently, fires and explosions occurring in apartment buildings and boarding houses in the area have caused heavy damage to people and property.
The movement to dismantle "tiger cages" aims to serve the work of escaping and rescuing people when a fire or explosion occurs, and at the same time quickly contain and handle initial fires, avoiding spreading and large fires.
This work will be maintained regularly by PC07 until the city no longer has the situation of people installing "tiger cages" as it is now.
In addition, the units also mobilized 100% of households to equip portable fire extinguishers and demolition tools; have plans to handle fire and explosion situations, and safely escape.
At the same time, promote the development of the model "Fire prevention and fighting inter-family safety group" and other models to proactively organize fire fighting when a fire or explosion occurs.
