Cam Pha is a place deeply marked by the proud tradition of "Discipline and Unity" of the Quang Ninh mining region. These traditions also serve as advantages for Cam Pha's tourism development, making it an attractive destination and contributing to the gradual shift in the economic structure from "brown" to "green".

Cua Ong Temple is one of the attractive destinations for tourists.

Cua Ong Temple (Cua Ong Ward) is one of the famous historical and cultural relics of the Tran Dynasty in the Northeast region. Originally, it was a place of worship for Hung Nhượng Vương Tran Quoc Tang, who made significant contributions to defending the Northeast region against foreign invaders. Here, mountains, forests, and the sea meet, blessed by nature with a prime location and a magnificent, majestic, and solemn landscape rarely found elsewhere.

As a complex of architecture that is both ancient and solemn, yet modern, situated in a location "backed by mountains and facing the sea," Cua Ong Temple is divided into three worship areas: the Lower Temple, the Middle Temple, and the Upper Temple. These temples are arranged along an axis from bottom to top. At the bottom is the Lower Temple, dedicated to the Heavenly Mother (Three Holy Mothers) and the Central Heavenly Dragon Mother (Mother of the Dragon of Vietnam). In the middle is the Middle Temple, dedicated to the Imperial Commissioner of the Eastern Region, Hoang Can, and the Mountain and Water deities. At the top is the Upper Temple, dedicated to Hung Nhượng Vương Tran Quoc Tang (the main deity), and also includes the Nine Heavenly Martial Emperors, National Father, Martial Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan, and other family deities. Cua Ong Temple is the most complete temple dedicated to the generals and family members of the Tran Dynasty. The temple still preserves the royal decree from the second year of Khai Dinh's reign, the year of Dinh Ty (1917). The temple was awarded the Certificate of Ranking as a Special National Monument and the Cua Ong Temple Festival was held in 2018. With its unique historical, cultural, and spiritual values, Cua Ong Temple attracts a large number of tourists from all over the country.

Cam Pha City currently has 24 historical sites that have been inventoried and classified. Besides preserving national cultural identity, revolutionary traditions, and traditional festivals, the city pays special attention to promoting the value of these sites. A prominent example is the Vung Duc Historical and Scenic Site, a place commemorating the sacrifices of revolutionary soldiers who fell for the liberation of the mining region, and a place for educating the younger generation about patriotism.

Another historically significant landmark for the Cam Pha mining region in particular, and Quang Ninh province in general, is the 12-11 Square. On November 12, 1936, a general strike took place here involving over 30,000 Cam Pha miners demanding that the French colonialists increase wages and reduce working hours, with the slogan "Discipline and unity! We will win!", which has become a tradition of the coal industry and miners in Quang Ninh.

Cam Pha also boasts a treasure trove of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities, such as: Soong Co singing, traditional Cheo singing, the "To Tom Diem" game, and betel leaf preparation. Cam Pha is also blessed with many beautiful natural landscapes, such as Bai Tu Long Bay, Vung Duc island area, and Hang Hanh cave, which is 1,300m long and runs through the Quang Hanh mountain range to the sea. Cam Pha also possesses a natural hot mineral spring with high salinity and temperature, and a bromine content of up to 49% of the total mineral content, making Cam Pha one of the three most famous bromine mineral spring locations in the world...

Beach tourism, resort tourism, and spiritual tourism – three rare elements converging in Cam Pha. For the period 2020-2030, Cam Pha has identified tourism services as a key economic sector. The city has developed a tourism development plan with specific goals and solutions. The plan aims to make tourism a leading economic sector by 2025, with high-quality infrastructure and products, attracting approximately 2 million visitors and generating over 1,000 billion VND in tourism revenue.

To realize this goal, along with preserving, protecting, and promoting historical sites, the city has been developing unique and distinctive tourism products. The city has built, inaugurated, and put into operation the "Miners' Night Street" pedestrian zone on weekends. The street runs from the Cam Pha Workers' Cultural Center to the 12-11 Square. The "Miners' Night Street" promotes the land, people, and culture of the Cam Pha mining region, creating a unique tourism product and gradually developing the night-time economy.

The city is coordinating with TKV (Vietnam Coal Corporation) to study and implement a project to restore the historical site at the intersection leading to the Deo Nai mine, focusing on the restoration, preservation, and upgrading of the traditional fire-keeping house. Based on this, the city will connect historical sites, mining areas, and mines managed by the coal industry, such as: 12-11 Square; the site where President Ho Chi Minh visited the Deo Nai mine; the Underground Mining Skills Assessment Center; the Vung Duc historical and scenic area... to develop a "Coal" tourism product.

Since 2021, the city has launched the movement to build "Cam Pha City - The City of a Million Roses". The movement has truly spread throughout the alleys, hamlets, residential areas, wards, communes, and even agencies and units in the area. Everywhere in the city, it's easy to spot vibrant roses in full bloom. This creates a unique and distinctive highlight, a unique tourism product, attracting tourists from all over the world. When mentioning Cam Pha, many people will remember a city of "black gold," but now it also possesses its own unique beauty with romantic and dreamy flower seasons that follow one another, captivating hearts with the warmth and hospitality of the coal mining region.

To "awaken" the tourism potential of Bai Tu Long Bay, the city has included activities in the bay tour itinerary such as: kayaking, swimming, visiting fishing villages, learning about the traditional culture of fishermen, enjoying various seafood..., which are truly attractive and appealing to tourists.

In particular, the city has completed the process of handling, relocating, and dismantling illegal aquaculture cages, rafts, and ropes, aiming to restore order along the coastline, protect the environment, and contribute to the exploitation of the potential of marine tourism.

The city is encouraging the development of farms linked to ecotourism, experiential tourism, and rural tourism in Duong Huy, Cam Hai, and Cong Hoa communes to form a chain of tourism products and strengthen connections with neighboring areas. With its synchronized infrastructure, valuable tourism potential, and attractive products, Cam Pha is expected to attract tourism in Quang Ninh province.
