Speaking at the Program, Chairwoman of the City Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong said that in recent times, Da Nang has been one of the pioneering localities in promoting gender equality and preventing and responding to gender-based violence by issuing and effectively implementing many outstanding and specific policies on the rights and interests of women and girls, of which building a safe city - free of violence against women and children - is one of the social security policies rich in humanity and unique to Da Nang.

In particular, Da Nang is honored to be the second locality in Vietnam and the 57th city in the world to be officially recognized to participate in the Global Core Initiative "Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces" of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), which has actively contributed to building Da Nang city - a safe, friendly destination in Vietnam and an impressive attraction for international friends.
Delegates pressed the button to launch a series of activities in response to the Action Month starting from November 15 to December 15 in all levels of the Women's Union in the city.
"The program "Orange - Light up and Act" is implemented annually by the City Women's Union, not only a series of outstanding media events in response to the Action Month, but has become a unique brand and a sign of identity for Da Nang Women, with the goal of striving for the development of women and gender equality; promoting real gender equality, narrowing the gender gap; creating conditions and opportunities for women and girls to participate and enjoy equality in all areas of social life, contributing to the sustainable development of the country", shared the President of the City Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong.
At the Program, delegates pressed the button to launch a series of activities in response to the Action Month starting from November 15 to December 15 in all levels of the Women's Union in the city, and at the same time introduced the "orange" paint with the words DANANG BEACH on My Khe beach in Da Nang.
Along with that, 300 women members in orange shirts performed a folk dance, creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere, blending with the "orange color" to eliminate violence against women and children.
Women's Union members respond to the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024
On this occasion, the City Association coordinated with the Italian organization Care the People in Vietnam to present 30 stone benches “Building a safe Da Nang city – no violence against women and children” to the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches and the Thanh Khe District Cultural and Sports Center. Painting the words “DANANG BEACH” orange as well as placing these benches is not only a prominent image in public spaces but also a symbol towards building “a safe city and a safe public space”.
