He wrote poetry and taught himself to paint, initially watercolor on paper, then oil on canvas, thus shaping his own path. When LangBian Literature and Arts Magazine was born, he returned there to help build the magazine with the work of presenting and editing fine arts. He has participated in more than 20 group and solo exhibitions in Da Lat, of which the 2017 exhibition Ngu Cu marked his personal path in the art of painting".

"Hoang Nhu Thuy An is a person who always lives truthfully and very innocently, so he always loves the truth and paints with his very real thoughts... Standing in front of his works, we feel relieved and love life more. As if experiencing an unusually beautiful dream, we find in his paintings a mysterious Chagall, a world where everything speaks to each other with a very honest language of love, without ghosts, illusions or hiding anything", painter Dang Mau Tuu feels.

Painter Hoang Nhu Thuy An shared that writing poetry or painting is an act of artistic creation, a way to express oneself by reaching the end of one’s passion for beauty. In other words, artistic creation is a return to oneself, despite pain and loss.
"Therefore, artists have no other choice but to be honest. Honest in their work. Honest in their life. To do so, artists must transcend ordinary life," he said.
