RULES OF THE WRITING CONTEST FOR LIVING BEAUTIFULLY V

CONTESTANTS

Vietnamese citizens and foreigners living in Vietnam (no age limit) can participate in submitting articles.

All employees, collaborators of Thanh Nien Newspaper and sponsors are eligible to participate and receive royalties according to regulations but are not eligible for awards.

Each contestant can submit multiple entries but only one entry will be considered for competition in the same category.

CONTENT OF THE CONTEST WORK

Topic:

The story tells about a character or group that has taken noble, practical actions to help individuals or communities, thereby spreading warm, humane stories. Not only expressing an optimistic, positive spirit, the story also depicts the magic of compassion - a power that can help many difficult circumstances overcome unfortunate fates, bring hope and change lives in unexpected ways.

The 5th Beautiful Living Writing Contest officially has a new award category: Outstanding Entry Award on the topic of the environment . This award is to honor inspirational works, recognize the sense of responsibility towards nature, reflect beautiful actions, meaningful initiatives in environmental protection. Through this category, the Organizing Committee hopes to strongly spread the message of green living, living compassionately and contribute to arousing public awareness in preserving the green planet for future generations.

GENRE / FORM

1. Article Category

- Journalism, reportage, notes: The story in the contest must be based on real people, real events and must have accompanying images. The work tells about a character or group that has performed beautiful, practical actions to help individuals or the community, thereby spreading humane, inspirational stories. Not only expressing an optimistic, positive spirit, the article also honors the magic of compassion - sharing and love can change fate, light up hope and bring good things in life.

- Short stories: composed from real or fictional stories, characters, events, acts of kindness...; content that spreads inspiration for a beautiful life, honors the wonders of kindness and encourages people to follow a green lifestyle.

- Contest entries must be written in Vietnamese (or English for foreigners, the Organizing Committee will be responsible for translation) and not exceed 1,600 words (short stories must not exceed 2,500 words).

- Use clear language, in accordance with good customs and traditions and not violating the provisions of Vietnamese law.

- The article can be typed, printed on paper or handwritten clearly on A4 paper.

2. Photo category

-Readers can send photos related to volunteer activities, community support, environmental care, positive contributions to society or daily good deeds of individuals or groups.

- Minimum number of photos: 5, including photo series name, introduction of no more than 300 words and caption for each photo.

- Contest photos must be taken with a camera, mobile phone or other digital devices, and must not be cropped or edited. Scanned photos, screenshots, or photos taken from paper photos are not accepted.

- .jpg or .png format. Maximum size: 6 MB.

- Photos must not have borders, frames, logos, signatures...

- Photos can be post-processed for basic lighting and color, but cannot be cropped, merged, deleted, or overlapped, etc., ensuring the content remains intact and does not distort the actual image.

CONTEST WORK REGULATIONS

- The submitted work must clearly state which category it is participating in, including: article, contest photo. Author's full name, pen name (if any), year of birth, occupation, gender, contact address or email, phone number.

- Each author can submit multiple works and submit multiple genres including different articles/photo albums but must agree on only their full name or pen name. For groups of authors, agree on a common name for the group.

JUDGING CRITERIA

* Entries participating in the preliminary round:

- Contest entries must have content and format in accordance with the requirements of the Organizing Committee.

- Contest entries must contain full participant information as required.

* Final round: The Organizing Committee will compile scores from the jury members and announce the awards based on the scoring results according to the prescribed scale from high to low.

In the email, please clearly describe: Author's full name, pen name (if any), year of birth, occupation, gender, address, email, phone number, role in the work. If the work has multiple authors, please clearly describe each author according to the above factors.

Authors can send their entries by post to the Thanh Nien Newspaper Editorial Office: 268 - 270 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (clearly write on the envelope: Entry for the 5th Beautiful Life Writing Contest - 2025). Only applicable to the writing and short story categories.

Each work needs a title (name of the work) set by the contestant. The organizers can edit this title when posting to suit the contest criteria as well as the posting platform.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING WORKS

From April 16, 2025 to November 16, 2025 (7 months).

PRIZE STRUCTURE

The list of winners will be announced on the Beautiful Life page.

When summarizing the competition, the Organizing Committee may consider deciding to adjust the prize structure accordingly.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

The contest organizing committee includes members: Editorial Board and representatives of departments and functional departments of Thanh Nien Newspaper, with Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan - Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper as Head of the committee.

The Jury includes journalists, writers, poets, directors, and celebrities, headed by Journalist Hai Thanh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper . The guest Jury includes Writer Phan Hon Nhien, Writer Cao Viet Quynh, Artist Le Xuan Thang , and Miss Thanh Ha .

The entries (including images, illustrations/videos of the article) are works that have not participated in any other contest, have not been printed in the author's own book or any other anthology until the end of the contest. The entries have not been posted or broadcast on any platform (including personal channels). If any violations are detected, the Organizing Committee will refuse to post the entry or delete the entry and revoke the author's right to participate in the contest and will not pay royalties even if the work has been posted. If the work has won a prize and is found to have violated, the Organizing Committee will revoke the prize and award it to other works/contestants.

The author of the entry commits to take legal responsibility for his/her entry, ensuring that there are no copyright disputes. Images, videos, stories and character information mentioned in the entry must be approved by the character, the author is fully responsible for any complaints from the character. If the awarded entries violate copyright or there are any disputes or lawsuits, the Organizing Committee and the Jury will consider revoking the award and widely announce it in the newspaper. Entries that violate the rules of the Organizing Committee, Vietnamese customs or inappropriate information will be removed without prior notice.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for lost entries or for contestants providing incorrect personal information, resulting in uncontactability.

The Organizing Committee will not return any entries to the contest under any circumstances and reserves the right to use the winning entries for promotional and book printing purposes without any cost.

The Organizing Committee has the right to edit submitted entries to conform to the main content of the contest, according to the provisions of law and Thanh Nien Newspaper.

The winner is responsible for paying personal income tax according to the law at the time of receiving the prize. The winner is responsible for responding to the possibility of attending the Award Ceremony so that the Organizing Committee can prepare the prize. In case the winner is unable to attend the Award Ceremony for any reason, the cash prize will be transferred according to the information and documents provided by the winner.

The Organizing Committee will only resolve all complaints about the competition results within 7 days from the date of announcement of the results.

By participating in this contest, contestants automatically accept the rules of the Organizing Committee. The decision of the Organizing Committee is final.
