“Flip Side 8: Sunny Bracelet” revolves around Tam (Doan The Vinh) - a 17-year-old boy passionate about music in the sunny Central region, but his artistic dreams are held back by the strict expectations and traditional views of his father - Mr. Phuoc (Long Dep Trai).

After 3 days of early screening and 2 days of April 30 - May 1 holiday, on the morning of May 2, "Lat mat 8" officially reached the revenue milestone of 100 billion VND, according to Box Office Vietnam, an independent box office statistics unit.

In this part of the film, Ly Hai combines the family element with the theme of idol music. Along with that, he shows the conflict between the life concepts of two generations - one side is prejudiced parents, the other side is young people flying high in their aspirations and dreams.

Another plus point of “Lat mat 8” is the investment in production design, especially the setting. Notable among them are the flood scene; the bomb and bullet scene in the middle of the coconut forest, recreating a fierce part of the old war picture; a large-scale music concert with thousands of spectators; the image of Binh Thuan countryside with its vast sand dunes, the poor slums along the river...

Despite its familiar theme and impressive visuals, Ly Hai’s new “brainchild” still hasn’t created the emotional explosion expected. The storytelling language and plot of “Flip Side 8” are somewhat predictable.

In response to the audience's feelings, on the evening of May 1, Ly Hai spoke up. The male director sent his thanks to the audience who came to the theater to support and give reviews of his film.

Ly Hai said he was lucky to have been an artist for more than 30 years and to have been loved and trusted by everyone. That is why he always appreciates everyone's contributions. For Ly Hai, each sharing is a motivation for him and his team to continue to improve on the road ahead.

Along with “Lat mat 8”, the Vietnamese box office during the April 30 - May 1 holiday is considered the “second Tet season” when the movie “Tham tu Kien: Ky an khong dau” by Victor Vu is released. As of the morning of May 2, “Tham tu Kien” has reached a revenue of 85.8 billion VND, chasing quite closely with “Lat mat 8”.
