Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway bans trucks from lane 1
The Director of the Vietnam Road Administration has just issued a decision approving adjustments and supplements to the pilot traffic organization plan for lane division and speed regulations on the Phap Van - Cau Gie and Hanoi - Hai Phong expressways.
The pilot period on these two expressways is within 1 month, starting tomorrow, August 15.
Pilot for 1 month from August 15
Accordingly, approve the adjustment and supplement of the pilot traffic organization plan for lane division and speed regulation on the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.
Specifically, the traffic direction includes 3 motor vehicle lanes 3.75 m wide and one emergency lane 3.0 m wide; trucks are prohibited from operating in lane number 1 (lane close to the median strip);
Do not make U-turns on the highway; do not allow vehicles to enter the emergency lane, this lane is only for vehicles that must stop urgently;
Guidance for vehicles traveling on highways is provided by lane markings and highway signs.
In addition, lane 1 has a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h; the minimum speed limit is 80 km/h.
Prohibited from circulation are all types of vehicles, including common trucks, except single cabin pickup trucks, double cabin pickup trucks, and VAN trucks; Specialized trucks, except cash transport trucks; Specialized vehicles; Tractors and trailers.
Lane 2 maximum speed allowed is 100 km/h; minimum speed allowed is 70 km/h. Lane 3 maximum speed allowed is 100 km/h; minimum speed allowed is 60 km/h.

From August 15, trucks are banned from traveling on lane 1 of the Hanoi- Hai Phong highway.
Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway maximum speed 120km/h
As for the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway, vehicles are allowed to travel on the main route of the expressway on 3 lanes, each lane is 3.75 m wide, and must comply with the content of the signs installed on the route; regulations on vehicles for each lane; trucks are prohibited from operating in lane number 1 (lane close to the median strip).
Specifically, lane 1 has a maximum speed of 120 km/h; the minimum speed is 90 km/h.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, on July 31, 2025, this agency received a dispatch from the Traffic Police Department regarding the piloting of lane separation, vehicle flow separation, and traffic reorganization on highways. After research, the Vietnam Road Administration reported to the Ministry of Construction : Recently, traffic congestion on highways has been complicated, including the gateway area of Hanoi city.
The Vietnam Road Administration stated that the Traffic Police Department's proposal to separate lanes and reorganize traffic on the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway and the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway is necessary and consistent with the Party and State's policy on strengthening solutions to ensure traffic order and safety in the new situation.
