This is an event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, taking place from August 19 to 31, with the participation of thousands of overseas Vietnamese in Europe.
Ms. Nguyen Viet Trieu - President of the Vietnam Women's Union in Europe said that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - a sacred milestone in the history of the nation. In order to pay tribute to the contributions of our ancestors in building and defending the country, and at the same time, to arouse national pride in the overseas Vietnamese community, the Vietnam Women's Union in Europe has initiated, launched and sponsored a special community cultural program called "Vietnamese Costumes for Walking in Europe".
As a pioneer, the Union of Vietnamese Women in Europe not only organized the event but also played a role in connecting dozens of associations, businesses and Vietnamese communities in many countries, turning "Vietnamese Costume Walking" into a common journey of overseas Vietnamese across Europe.
The event will take place simultaneously in many major cities in Europe, gathering thousands of Vietnamese people in Ao Dai and traditional costumes of the three regions. The series of outstanding activities include: Ao Dai and national costume parade, folk art performances, cultural exchange with international friends and connecting generations of Vietnamese people living abroad.
The program opened with a map of Vietnam, celebrating the anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19) in Warsaw (Poland).
The program continues in Bratislava (Slovakia) on August 24 with a lion dance and a parade of national costumes. On August 29, in Liberec (Czech Republic) and Kosice (Slovakia), there will be a parade through European landmarks rich in historical value. Finally, on August 31, Utrecht (Netherlands), Vienna (Austria) and Brno (Czech Republic) will simultaneously perform Vietnamese identity in the heart of Europe, while in London (UK) there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the place where President Ho Chi Minh worked in 1913.
The program is accompanied by Vietnamese associations, women's associations, business associations, and student associations in many countries, joining hands to spread the message "Brilliant Vietnamese costume - Vietnamese soul reaches far". That message affirms: no matter where you are, love for the homeland and Vietnamese identity will always be preserved and shine.
