Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of June 25, Mr. Hoang Van Thieu - Secretary of the Youth Union of Muong Lai commune (Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province) - said that due to heavy rain last night, the inter-commune road from Muong Lai to the high school graduation exam site in the center of Luc Yen district was eroded, cutting off traffic.
In particular, the spillway area of Toan Dien village and the bypass road through Tham village (Khau Quang) are extremely difficult to travel, mud flows down the road, the mud is almost knee-deep so vehicles cannot pass.
Faced with the above situation, to ensure that all candidates are safe and arrive on time to complete the high school graduation exam procedures this afternoon, the commune's Youth Union mobilized forces to support candidates through the landslide site.
At the same time, in coordination with the District Youth Union, the police force mobilized specialized vehicles to take candidates from the landslide site to the exam site in the center of Luc Yen district.
"At the landslide site, the Youth Union was on duty to guide and support candidates to walk, wade through knee-deep mud across the landslide site, and then use specialized vehicles to take nearly 100 students to the exam site," said Mr. Thieu.
According to Mr. Thieu, by this evening, the authorities had mobilized excavators to level the ground, and vehicles could move. If there are no more landslides, the children will be able to travel normally tomorrow.
"In the context of complicated floods, the Youth Union of the commune is always on duty, ready to support children when they encounter difficulties," said Mr. Thieu.
