Vietnam stock market surpasses 10 million accounts

More than 190,800 new accounts were opened in May 2025, bringing the total number of accounts in the stock market to more than 10 million.

Data from the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC) shows that investors opened 190,852 new accounts in May, a slight decrease compared to the previous month but still a month with a high number of newly opened accounts.

Most of the new accounts were opened by domestic individual investors (190,634 accounts). Domestic institutional investor accounts were 44. Meanwhile, foreign investors opened 174 new accounts.

Thus, currently, the total number of securities accounts reaches more than 10.07 million; of which, accounts of domestic individual investors account for 99.33%. On average, 1 in 10 people is a securities investor.

The market is currently aiming for 11 million securities accounts by 2030 according to the Government 's market development project.

The number of securities accounts exceeded 10 million in the context of positive developments in the domestic stock market.

At the end of the trading session in May 2025, the VN-Index increased by 106.3 points (8.67%) compared to the end of April, to 1,332.6 points.
