On August 29, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong signed a decision approving the plan for the architectural competition for the Kinh Duong Vuong intersection overpass, Binh Dien bridge and other items at the Binh Thuan intersection.
These are items of Component Project 3: Upgrading and expanding National Highway 1, from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to Tay Ninh province border (now Le Kha Phieu Street), invested in the form of PPP - BOT contract.

The competition was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the research scope spanned Tan Tao and An Lac wards, Tan Nhut commune and Binh Chanh commune. The main items included: Kinh Duong Vuong overpass: 4-lane scale, area of about 6.24 hectares; construction of 2 new units across Cho Dem river, area of more than 8 hectares. Binh Thuan traffic intersection: expansion of 2 overpasses on National Highway 1, construction of 2 underpasses, and 2 pedestrian overpasses, area of more than 13 hectares.
The objective of the competition is to select the optimal, modern, feasible architectural solution and create a highlight for the southern gateway area of the city. The competition is widely organized, with no limit on the number of participating units, for domestic and foreign design consulting organizations with sufficient capacity and experience in architecture, planning and transportation.
The recruitment period is expected to last about 65 days from the date the plan is approved. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requires the recruitment process to ensure objectivity, transparency, and compliance with regulations, and considers this an important step in forming a modern transport infrastructure system to meet the city's socio -economic development needs in the coming time.
