On October 15, a representative of Tam Phuc General Hospital (Phan Thiet Ward, Lam Dong Province) said that they had just received and treated a rare case where a patient swallowed an intact pill, causing stomach damage.
Specifically, a 52-year-old male patient (residing in Lam Dong province) was admitted to the hospital with abdominal pain. After clinical examination, the doctor ordered a gastroscopy and discovered a foreign object, an intact pill, in the pyloric region, causing scratches on the stomach lining. The medical staff at Tam Phuc General Hospital performed an endoscopy and quickly removed the pill safely.

According to medical history, the patient said he had a cold so he bought medicine to take himself, not realizing he had accidentally swallowed an intact pill.

Doctors say that foreign bodies in the upper digestive tract are not uncommon, but cases of foreign bodies being pill shells are quite rare. Through this incident, doctors advise people to be careful when taking medicine, especially pills that are cut into pieces, to avoid the risk of choking or damage to the digestive tract. If you accidentally swallow pills with intact shells or other foreign bodies, you should quickly go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment.
