In Hai Phong commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, a unique initiative is bringing unprecedented convenience to locals and visitors.
At the end of April 2025, Hung Nhon village chief Nguyen Nhu Khoa attached QR codes to the alleys in the village.
The idea of attaching QR codes to each alley came from the difficulty in giving directions to each house, because the houses were not clearly numbered.
Especially after the 20th anniversary of Mr. Khoa's military enlistment in 2024, when many people were confused about where to go to the venue.
Village chief Nguyen Nhu Khoa researched the application of QR (Quick Response) code - a type of two-dimensional barcode that can contain a variety of information such as text, web addresses, contact information or geographic coordinates...
Mr. Khoa introduced Hung Nhon village with 16 alleys located along the inter-commune road, with more than 275 households.
The QR code includes detailed information about the location of houses, the length of the alley, and the number of households living in the alley. Even the locations of public buildings such as temples, churches, pagodas, schools, etc. are integrated into the QR code.
The implementation will be carried out from April 2025 with funding mainly from the village's resources and the support of some residents.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phu, in alley 11, excitedly said: "Since the QR code, giving directions has become easier than ever, especially for delivery people and strangers. This is truly a great initiative, solving the inconvenience caused by the complicated local roads."
Even the elders in the village quickly got used to using their phones to share QR codes with those in need.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung Tri, in alley 6, added: "In the digital age, QR codes are really useful.
Especially when there is a funeral party, inviting guests from far away is no longer a worry about directions. Even selling rice to traders in Hue City becomes easier when you just need to send the location QR code."
