In the past two days, public opinion has been abuzz about the fact that on November 7, 2023, a flight from Da Nang to Hanoi was forced to make an emergency stop due to two passengers joking about having “guns” in their luggage. One of them was Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Quang, Deputy Head of the Cyber Security Department of Thai Binh Provincial Police.
As soon as receiving the information, the leaders of Thai Binh Provincial Police directed functional units to urgently grasp the situation and clarify the incident.
Initial results show that Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Quang, Deputy Head of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Thai Binh Provincial Police, boarded a flight from Da Nang airport to Hanoi on the evening of November 7, 2023 (accompanied by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trong, born in 1993, in Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province), related to the incident as reported.
According to Thai Binh Provincial Police, Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Quang is attending a 2nd Diploma class organized by the People's Security Academy at the People's Public Security University of Technology and Administration (in Thuan Thanh Town, Bac Ninh Province), under the direct management of the school. The verification and handling will be carried out by the school according to regulations of the Ministry of Public Security.

Previously, as reported, the incident occurred on flight number VN186, from Da Nang to Hanoi, scheduled to depart at 7:25 p.m. on November 7, with a total of 97 passengers.
At this time, two male passengers sitting in seats 29A and 30D "played with each other with guns", these two people did not have any checked baggage. Therefore, the Captain decided to refuse to transport.
After receiving the news, the Commander of the Security and Order Team notified the Danang Aviation Security Center on duty to lead the unit to deploy forces to the scene to implement professional measures to ensure passenger safety.
The two passengers were taken to the aviation security duty room, and after being searched, their bodies and carry-on luggage were searched, but no guns, dangerous goods, or prohibited or explosive substances were found.
Checking the identities of the two passengers who spread rumors about carrying guns on the plane, airport forces identified these two people as: Nguyen Duc Trong (30 years old, residing in Bac Hai commune, Tien Hai district), sitting in seat 30D, and Le Xuan Quang (40 years old, residing in Thai Binh city), sitting in seat 29A.
At 9:00 p.m. the same day, the inspection process on the plane was completed, the airport force deployed safety measures until 10:00 p.m. before allowing the plane to continue its journey from Da Nang to Hanoi.
