From April 27, visitors to the village of Iselwald will no longer be able to take photos freely at the pier on Lake Brienz. Village officials have installed two turnstiles at the entrance to the pier and the nearby public toilets. Visitors who want to take photos will have to pay a fee of 5 francs (over 130,000 VND) and 1 franc (over 26,000 VND) to use the toilets.

The pier on Lake Brienz, 7 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, was one of the filming locations for the Korean drama Crash Landing on You , starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. At this location, Hyun Bin sat and played the piano. This is considered one of the most famous scenes of the film.

Iseltwald officials declined to comment on the reason for the fee. But many people speculate that the tourists who come here in large numbers do not spend much. Most come by public transport, take pictures at the pier, stroll around and then return home. A few stop by the village to buy some snacks.

After the show aired, Asian fans flocked to the place. According to local residents, visitors had to wait in line for hours to take a few minutes of photos here. In recent years, the village, which has a population of 420, has welcomed more than 400,000 visitors. In the summer of 2022, at least 12 buses full of people visited the village every day. At that time, Mayor Peter Rubi said that if visitors continued to come, the public toilets would be overloaded. And charging a fee was the solution.

Lake Brienz is located in the northern Alps, in the canton of Bern, 14 km long and nearly 3 km wide. There are many villages around the lake, including the village of Iselwald.
