That was the opinion of Mr. Vuong Duy Bien - former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - at the "Culture - Tourism - Trade" Connection Forum of Lam Dong province in Hanoi on May 17.
According to Resolution No. 60 of the 11th Central Conference, it is expected that the three provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong, and Binh Thuan will merge into a new province called Lam Dong province.
From a province on the plateau, after the merger, Lam Dong province possesses diverse natural resources from forests to seas, opening up opportunities for cultural and socio-economic development, especially in the tourism sector.
Opportunity to build a world-class tourism brand
Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said that when the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong merge, forming a new Lam Dong province, the development space will be open and diverse.
This merger not only expands the administrative scale, but also creates a harmonious exchange between economic, ecological and cultural regions.
Lam Dong used to be a forest, now it will have more sea, with a rich ecosystem, converging many favorable conditions to develop eco-tourism and high-tech agriculture.
According to Ms. Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam - Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, the locality is currently striving to become a fairly developed province in the country, with an average GRDP per capita reaching over 100 million VND.

After the merger, the new Lam Dong province will have a large development space with the largest natural area in the country (over 24,000km²), an economic scale in the top 10 in the country, converging all the elements of sea - forest - border - island.
Regarding tourism development, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration - pointed out the great advantage that Lam Dong province has. Resources from the sea to the forest with 4 national tourist areas: Mui Ne, Ta Dung, Tuyen Lam Lake, Da Lat City... when coming together will create a great force to create a trend of intra-provincial tourism.
Besides, good models or examples will have strong influence, attracting opportunities to mobilize large resources to build influential and internationally-recognized tourism complexes.
Find the common and unique features of the new Lam Dong
Discussing the connection between culture - tourism - trade, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien expressed his views from a cultural perspective. Lam Dong has become the largest province in the country, but for future development, culture must still be the first connecting factor.
Tourists travel to explore, experience culture, and see how local people live.
Despite the geographical differences and larger areas, the cultural areas of Dak Nong, Da Lat (Lam Dong), and Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan) must also be preserved. While maintaining that distinction, we must also build a new, larger cultural brand for the province.
Along with that, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong commented that in order to connect and develop culture, tourism and trade, Lam Dong province needs to clarify its resources.
According to the deputy minister, Lam Dong's resources are first and foremost people, followed by culture, heritage, institutions, and opportunities. Of these, people are the most important.
After the merger, the culture of the new Lam Dong will be more diverse, more quintessential, more attractive festivals, becoming an attractive destination for tourists.
