In recent days, residents and tourists have reported stepping on oil lumps scattered on Nha Trang beach.
The oil clumps together and sticks to the hands, feet, and clothes of tourists. The oil mixes with the sand, making it difficult to detect. People walking on the shore can easily step on the oil or get it on their bodies while swimming.
Ms. Nguyen Huyen Trang (living in Nha Trang City) swims in the area near Tram Huong Tower and said that oil is often mixed with sand and moss, has a burnt smell, if it gets on the body it can be easily cleaned, but if it gets on clothes it is very difficult to wash off completely.
According to Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, in the past 2 days, the company has mobilized forces to clean up areas where oil clumps have appeared, and plans to quickly handle them to return the seascape to tourists, because the amount of oil washed ashore is not too much.

Mr. Dam Hai Van - Head of Nha Trang Bay Management Board - said that the situation of oil clumps washing up on Nha Trang's shore often happens in the summer. The management board is still investigating the cause of this situation. Oil clumps can also drift ashore from ocean currents.
Previously, oil spills on Nha Trang beach also occurred in previous years, usually in the summer, significantly affecting the activities of residents and tourists on the beach.
