Attending the meeting were representatives of the following units: Department of European - American Markets, Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Department of Oil, Gas and Coal.

At the meeting, BP Group representatives presented their interest in participating in energy projects in Vietnam, especially the project to convert Cong Thanh thermal power plant.
Responding to BP Group’s concerns, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long discussed some LNG project appraisal processes and some requirements for investors. Accordingly, the Deputy Minister requested that the consortium of investors must have a specific plan and commitment to the project implementation progress, as a basis for the Ministry of Industry and Trade and competent authorities to appraise, so that the project can be approved for inclusion in the implementation plan of the Power Plan VIII.
BP Group representative also presented the plan to build and deploy the Cong Thanh LNG thermal power plant project on the existing land infrastructure in Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa. The group representative emphasized the importance of investing in and building a large-scale LNG port warehouse to increase flexibility and reduce output costs.
At the end of the working session, BP Group representatives reaffirmed their commitment to accompany and support Vietnam in the energy transition process, and to actively and closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the coming time.
