Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1398/QD-TTg on appointing Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force, to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense .
The decision takes effect from June 27.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien was born on February 22, 1967, in Hoa Binh commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province (old). He has a Bachelor's degree in Military Science; Senior in Political Theory.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hien is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
During his career, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien held the following positions: Commander of the 365th Air Defense Division, Air Defense - Air Force; Deputy Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force; Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Air Defense - Air Force.
From May 2023, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien is Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force.
The current Minister of Defense is General Phan Van Giang. Deputy Ministers include: General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien; Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh; Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam; Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai; Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien.
