At the meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highly appreciated the historical significance of the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

The visit took place at a time when Vietnam and Turkey were celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations, opening a new era in bilateral relations. President Erdogan affirmed that Turkey attaches importance to developing multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, a country with a particularly important position in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Erdogan expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the valuable support that the Government and people of Vietnam have given to Türkiye in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in February. He highly appreciated the enthusiasm and high expertise of the rescue team sent by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Public Security to support Türkiye.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at visiting the beautiful country of Türkiye on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its national day. The two leaders agreed on many specific measures to further promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ruling Justice and Development Party of Türkiye (AKP) as well as between the governments and parliaments of the two countries.
The two sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, emphasizing the importance of complying with international law and ensuring peace, security and development in the two regions and the world.
Regarding the economy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Erdogan agreed that the potential for cooperation between the two sides is still very large and needs to be specifically exploited.
Notably, President Erdogan affirmed that Türkiye is interested in promoting trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam, aiming for a bilateral trade turnover of 5 billion USD in the coming period. He also expressed his delight at the successful investment of a number of Turkish corporations in Vietnam.
The Turkish President hoped that the two countries would expand cooperation in the fields of tourism, health, energy, etc. and affirmed that he would direct ministries and branches to proactively implement the contents agreed upon during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit. These include the early organization of the 8th Meeting of the Vietnam-Türkiye Intergovernmental Committee and the 5th Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in the first half of 2024.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Türkiye facilitate Vietnam’s key export products such as footwear, agricultural products, seafood, etc. to penetrate Türkiye’s supermarket chains and distribution systems. In addition, he welcomed Turkish businesses to invest in Vietnam in the fields of infrastructure, logistics, etc.
The two leaders also agreed to promote cooperation in other areas such as Halal development, tourism, agriculture, education and training, and enhancing people-to-people exchange.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam will contribute 500,000 USD to aid the Palestinian people.
The head of the Vietnamese Government also asked Türkiye to pay attention and create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in Türkiye, actively contributing to the development of Türkiye as well as the friendly relations between the two countries.
Regarding regional and international issues, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that Vietnam will contribute 500,000 USD through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to provide emergency humanitarian relief to Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong to the President of Türkiye to pay an official visit to Vietnam in 2024. The President of Türkiye accepted the invitation and expressed his hope to soon arrange the visit.
