According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, after successfully concluding the official visit to the State of Kuwait, at 5:15 p.m. on November 18, local time (11:15 p.m. Hanoi time), the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Alger, starting an official visit to Algeria from November 18-20 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Sifi Ghrieb.
This is the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Algeria in 10 years, since 2015.
Prime Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria Sifi Ghrieb personally came to the foot of the plane's stairs to welcome and present flowers to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
Right at Houari Boumediene Alger Airport, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb presided over the official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visiting Algeria.
When Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived at the position of honor, the Vietnamese National Anthem was played. Afterwards, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to inspect the guard of honor, followed by the two Prime Ministers introducing the Algerian and Vietnamese delegations attending the welcoming ceremony.
Although Vietnam and Algeria are geographically far apart, they have had a long-standing relationship, especially in the process of fighting together to gain and protect the national independence of each country. After more than 60 years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria has been constantly consolidated and developed well in many fields.
The trusted political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Algeria are promoted through the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries. Algeria is currently one of Vietnam's important trade partners in Africa. In terms of investment, the most prominent is the cooperation project between large enterprises of Vietnam and Algeria in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
Defense and security cooperation has always been maintained. Cooperation in the fields of culture, sports... has always been strengthened by the two countries, in which, in Algeria, hundreds of Vietnamese martial arts clubs have been developed with tens of thousands of practitioners, in dozens of provinces and cities. The Vietnamese community in Algeria currently has about 2,000 people.
Although the room for cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria is still very large, especially when each side can be a gateway for the other to expand the regional market, due to geographical distance, the two sides have not fully exploited it, especially in the fields of trade and investment, especially in the fields where Vietnam and Algeria have strengths and needs, and can complement each other, such as energy, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, food processing and manufacturing industries...
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Algeria this time is of great significance in promoting the cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height, opening an era of extensive and dynamic cooperation; expected to contribute to consolidating the trustworthy political relationship, promoting and creating new momentum for economic, trade and investment cooperation and enhancing people-to-people connections between the two countries in the new development period./.
