Speaking at the 9th National Brand Product Announcement Ceremony in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to focus on removing institutional bottlenecks in the most positive and effective way, resolutely, persistently, and resolutely eliminating the "ask - give" mechanism, harassment, and hindering business development, while calling on businessmen and businesses to join hands with the country to enter the Era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.

On the evening of November 4, in Hanoi , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the 9th National Brand Product Announcement Ceremony in 2024, with the theme "Strengthening into the Green Era".

Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son; leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies; leaders of provinces and centrally run cities; National Brand Council; foreign diplomatic and trade representative agencies in Vietnam; domestic and foreign trade promotion organizations; enterprises and industry associations.

The event was organized by the National Brand Council in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aiming to demonstrate Vietnam's determination in building national, local, industry and business brands in a green and sustainable direction, responding to the strong shifting trend of the world market. The theme of this year's program emphasizes the transformation of the development model towards an environmentally friendly direction, actively contributing to the protection of the green planet and sustainable development.

The selection of enterprises achieving National Brand has been conducted every two years since 2008 with the aim of encouraging enterprises to continue sharing and pursuing the values of the program, enhancing pride in Vietnamese products.

After more than 20 years of formation and development, the Vietnam National Brand Program affirms itself as the only long-term, specific trade promotion program of the Government to build the image of Vietnam as a country with prestige in high-quality goods and services, increase the pride and attractiveness of the country and people of Vietnam, contribute to promoting foreign trade development and enhancing national competitiveness.

Building and developing the Vietnamese national brand is a task of special importance.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that building and developing the Vietnamese national brand is a task of special importance and strategic significance, a mission of all of us with perseverance, effort and unceasing creativity; in which building national product brands is one of the core contents.

Assessing this as an important event to honor quality and reputable product and service brands, the Prime Minister highly appreciated and warmly congratulated the efforts and important contributions of the Vietnamese business community and enterprises, especially the 190 enterprises whose products achieved the National Brand in 2024.

According to the Prime Minister, over the past 20 years, the National Brand Program has increasingly affirmed itself as one of the prestigious and quality programs. The number of enterprises with products achieving the National Brand has continuously increased over the years, from 30 enterprises in 2008 to 190 enterprises in 2024.

The program not only affirms the quality of products and services produced in Vietnam, but also affirms the capacity, intelligence, bravery, flexibility and creativity of Vietnamese enterprises, contributing to building a solid position in the domestic market and beautifying the two words "Vietnam" in the international market; affirming the great contribution of Vietnamese enterprises in the process of building the National Brand.

According to Brand Finance, in recent years, Vietnam's National Brand has made great strides. Vietnam is not only in the Top 100 countries with strong brands, but also the country with the fastest brand value growth rate in the world in the period 2019-2022. Vietnam's brand value in 2024 is ranked 32nd out of 193 countries assessed, reaching 507 billion USD, up 1 rank and 2% increase in value compared to 2023.

This is a clear demonstration of the tireless efforts of the business community and entrepreneurs, along with the results of the National Brand Program and the positive impacts of the Party and State's mechanisms and policies in creating a business environment, attracting investment, promoting innovation and sustainable development.

The Head of Government emphasized that in the context of digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy, the world is gradually shifting from the traditional resource-consuming economic model to the green economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, and night-time economy. Not outside of that trend, Vietnamese enterprises with their creativity can take advantage of this opportunity to rise up and play an active role in the global transformation.

Therefore, enterprises with their national brands must not only develop traditional business sectors, but also focus on attracting investment and creating momentum for pioneering sectors and fields; not only rely on capital and resource exploitation as before, but must rely on science, technology, and innovation; not only promote and renew traditional growth drivers but also promote new growth drivers from green economy, circular economy, digital economy, knowledge economy, and sharing economy.

"We need to clearly understand that a brand is not only an affirmation of product quality, but also a commitment to sustainable development to "Strengthen our path into the Green Era," the Prime Minister stated.

The Prime Minister requested that enterprises achieving National Brands in particular and the Vietnamese business community and entrepreneurs in general continue to promote the core values: Quality - Innovation - Creativity - Pioneering capacity. Continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, attachment, for the benefit of enterprises associated with the interests of the nation and people, strive to overcome difficulties, innovate, constantly improve production and business efficiency and gradually improve competitiveness in the region and globally, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that in the coming time, businesses need to focus on implementing well a number of key tasks and solutions.

Firstly, continuously focus on exploiting opportunities from the green growth and sustainable development trend; pioneering in the green revolution; taking advantage of the prestige of the national brand, while combining product branding with the Vietnamese national brand; actively seeking and expanding international markets and participating more deeply in global supply chains.

"The beautiful image of each national brand will be a beautiful image of the brand of the country, traditions, culture and people of Vietnam, especially in the context of the world promoting commitments on emission reduction and climate change prevention. Enterprises need to proactively switch to green production models, using renewable energy and environmentally friendly technology," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Second, continuously improve modern management capacity; apply advanced, transparent and healthy management standards; focus on sustainability in production. Promote digital transformation, green transformation; proactively innovate production and business models, restructure enterprises associated with the development of green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, contributing to enhancing brand reputation, creating strong trust in product and service quality for consumers.

Third, constantly innovate, create, develop, and apply science and technology to improve labor productivity and business efficiency; proactively and effectively enhance integration, especially in the context of the digital age and the Fourth Industrial Revolution; apply advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and automation in production to minimize negative impacts on the environment, and proactively enter the green era.

Fourth, continue to cultivate political and professional qualities; comply with legal regulations; be proactive and take the lead on the socio-economic development front; have great ambitions and aspirations for development, become a model of entrepreneurial spirit, honest, humane and responsible business. Further strengthen information and communication work; protect copyright and brand value.

Fifth, focus on training high-quality human resources with good skills, deep expertise, international qualifications and professional work, promptly serving the requirements of production and business development; promote the application of science and technology, innovation, and integration in all fields; continue to strengthen the connection of the network of Vietnamese talents and intellectuals at home and abroad.

Sixth, focus on building and improving corporate and entrepreneurial culture; ensure full material and spiritual benefits for employees. Integrate core values of business ethics and social responsibility into the long-term development strategy of the enterprise with environmental protection and community development. Actively participate in hunger eradication, poverty reduction, gratitude programs, support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics; further promote national spirit and patriotism associated with corporate culture, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc.

"What the Party and State always want, share and entrust the most is that entrepreneurs and businessmen bring their time, intelligence, compassion and business ethics as the sources for sustainable development of enterprises, entering the green era. We have the right to be proud that our enterprises and businessmen are increasingly progressive, increasingly developing, increasingly making important contributions to the cause of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland, building a strong and prosperous Vietnam, and making the Vietnamese people increasingly happy and prosperous," the head of the Government shared.

Resolutely, persistently, and resolutely eliminate the "ask - give" and harassment mechanism.

The Prime Minister stated that the 13th National Party Congress set out the task of: "Developing a large and strong team of entrepreneurs in terms of quantity and quality, with a spirit of dedication to the nation, progressive cultural and ethical standards, and good management and business skills...".

In line with this policy, the Government calls on businesses to make full and effective use of the opportunities brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution to promote the process of growth model innovation, economic restructuring associated with implementing strategic breakthroughs and modernizing the country, thereby striving to achieve the goal of green and sustainable growth.

The Party, State, Government and people are implementing three strategic breakthroughs: First is institutional breakthroughs to create the most favorable conditions, create an equal business environment, create opportunities, mechanisms and policies for businesses and entrepreneurs in the most effective way; second is building and developing strategic infrastructure to contribute to reducing costs, input costs, logistics costs, creating new development space, creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs to develop; third is training high-quality human resources to contribute to improving productivity and quality of businesses and entrepreneurs.

The Vietnam National Brand Program's mission of building and enhancing the Vietnamese national brand has a core and strategic mission of creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop and continuously enhance the brands of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, businesses, and Vietnamese products, goods, and services.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the success and development of the business community is a measure of the success of the State's management and administration. The Government understands, shares, listens and will continue to have supportive solutions to remove difficulties, create maximum conditions for businesses to develop; continue to perfect policies and mechanisms, reform administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment - considering the removal of bottlenecks and barriers that cause difficulties for businesses as an important political task of all levels, sectors and localities.

Currently, we still have many bottlenecks, in which institutional bottlenecks are the bottlenecks of bottlenecks, as General Secretary To Lam stated at the opening session of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

"We must focus on removing this bottleneck in the most positive and effective way, and must value time and intelligence at this point to remove it as quickly as possible. We will not be able to achieve the development goals set for 2030 and 2045 if we do not achieve the double-digit growth target each year in the next decade. We must strive for double-digit growth in the coming decades to achieve the development goals set for 2030 and 2045," the Prime Minister emphasized.

In that spirit, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as the focal agency in charge of implementing the Vietnam National Brand Program, to closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to receive proposals and recommendations from enterprises, create favorable conditions and support for the business community. In particular, priority is given to supporting enterprises with products achieving the National Brand, to pioneer and participate more actively in the construction and promotion of the Vietnam national brand, contributing to enhancing the image of Vietnam in the international arena.

At the same time, continue to propose and advise on creating a favorable, transparent, and highly competitive legal environment in the region and globally; resolutely, persistently, and decisively eliminate the "ask - give" mechanism, harassment, and hindering business development; reduce and simplify administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment; prioritize emerging industries and fields, remove difficulties for investment and business, and create conditions for business development.

Along with that, promote activities to develop, expand and diversify export markets, diversify supply chains, support the connection of domestic and foreign enterprises, associated with supporting the construction, management and development of product brands, business, industry and national brands, thereby contributing to improving the competitiveness of the country, industry, enterprise and products.

According to the Prime Minister, with a high sense of responsibility, with the spirit and confidence of the whole country and the team of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and enterprises, we believe that in the coming time, there will be many enterprises that meet the criteria of the Vietnam National Brand Program and the international one.

The success of entrepreneurs and enterprises is also the success of the country, contributing to building the image of Vietnam as a green, innovative and powerful country on the world map. The Vietnamese business community, the core of which are enterprises with products achieving national brands, need to continue to join hands, be unanimous, and strive to compete towards the goal of turning our country into a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045 as set out by the 13th National Party Congress, two historical milestones of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country.

"Each entrepreneur should demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, and the desire to rise up through concrete actions, together bringing the country into a new stage of development, catching up with trends, and preparing a mindset ready to enter a new era, which is the Era of Rising of the Vietnamese people," the head of the Government called.

* At the event, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded the National Brand title in 2024 to 359 products of 190 enterprises out of more than 1,000 enterprises whose products participating in the program met the criteria of the Program.

These are all enterprises with impressive business results with total revenue in 2023 reaching 2.4 million billion VND, total payment to the state budget of about 150 trillion VND, ensuring jobs for over 600 thousand workers and people, actively participating in social security activities, contributing to promoting the country's rapid and sustainable development.

Among them, leading banks such as Vietcombank, VietinBank, BIDV, Agribank, HDBank… have been honored as National Brands. These are pioneering banks, leading the financial market and are making great contributions to economic development, while promoting Vietnam’s image in the international arena with prestigious and quality brands.

The fact that top banks such as Vietcombank, VietinBank, BIDV, Agribank and HDBank received the National Brand title is not only a recognition of their prestige in the financial system but also affirms their international reach, enhancing the attraction of investment in the Vietnamese market from domestic and foreign investors.
