Thua Thien Hue's GRDP growth leads the Central Key Economic Region

On June 29, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province said that in the first 6 months of 2023, the province's socio -economic situation continued to achieve many positive results. The average GRDP growth rate is estimated at 6.51%, higher than the national average, ranking 25th out of 63 provinces/cities nationwide, ranking 8th out of 14 provinces/cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions; with the leading growth rate among the 5 provinces/cities in the Central Key Economic Region.

Notably, the service sector grew strongly again with an increase of 8.35%, accounting for 49.7% of the economic structure. In the first 6 months of 2023, the number of tourists reached about 1.6 million, 2.3 times higher than the same period in 2022; of which international visitors reached about 567.2 thousand, 44.8 times higher than the same period in 2022. Total revenue from tourism in the first 6 months is estimated at about 3,494 billion VND, 2.5 times higher than the same period in 2022.

The industrial and construction sector grew by 2.95%. The agricultural, forestry and fishery sector continued to be the mainstay of the economy, with a comprehensive bumper crop of agricultural production; growth of 9.48%. Total state budget revenue in the area in the first 6 months of the year was estimated at VND4,950 billion, equal to 49.9% of the estimate.

Since the beginning of the year, Thua Thien Hue has had 415 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of VND2,749 billion; granted 9 new projects with a total registered investment capital of VND3,705.8 billion, and granted investment policy approval certificates to 7 projects with a total investment of about VND1,589.3 billion.

The total public investment capital allocated by the province in 2023 is VND 8,091,097 billion, disbursed by June 20 is VND 2,097,649 billion, reaching 25.9% of the plan. It is expected that by June 30, the total disbursement rate of the whole province will reach about 36%.

In the first 6 months of the year, Thua Thien Hue province completed and put into operation passenger terminal T2 (Phu Bai airport); continued to prioritize investment in projects to create momentum and spread socio-economic development. In particular, focusing on completing the Phu My - Thuan An route, Cho Mai - Tan My route, the western road of Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon (Phu My - Phu Da section) in 2023; speeding up the implementation of coastal road projects, Nguyen Hoang road and Huong river overpass, Chan May port breakwater phase 2; completing investment preparation procedures for To Huu road extension projects to Phu Bai airport and Ring Road 3...

In addition to the achieved results, the report of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province also frankly acknowledged that the GRDP growth rate is still lower than the growth scenario of 9% - 10%, this will be a huge challenge to complete the growth target in 2023. Production and business activities, industrial production, export, ... continue to face many difficulties...

At the meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong requested departments, branches and localities to focus on tasks and solutions to promote socio-economic development, striving to complete the tasks of the last 6 months of the year.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province also noted fundamental solutions, with special attention paid to effectively implementing tasks and solutions to attract investment in large, strong sectors; in particular, the tourism sector needs to diversify customer and market segments.

Regarding the disbursement of public investment capital, ensuring the completion of the 2023 budget collection plan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong requested departments, branches and localities to drastically speed up the disbursement progress of projects under the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program, 3 National Target Programs; works and projects to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in 2022.

Pay special attention to site clearance, compensation, resettlement support, construction progress, and resolving difficulties and obstacles related to land and resources to speed up project implementation, especially key projects of the province. Strive to complete 100% disbursement of capital plan.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province noted that, for the targets set at the beginning of the year, it is necessary to strive to complete and exceed the State budget collection plan in 2023 of over 13,000 billion VND; effectively implement plans to improve administrative indicators on PAR-Index; PAPI-Index, PCI, ICT, especially solutions to improve important indicators that have been downgraded in 2022.
