The event is part of a series of activities of Ho Chi Minh City's Digital Transformation Week with the theme "Exploiting digital data, digital transformation success" in response to National Digital Transformation Day on October 10, organized by Banking Times in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, and the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Governor of the State Bank Pham Tien Dung said that data and data analysis, exploitation and connection are decisive factors in the process of promoting cashless payments and digital transformation activities.

In the digital age, data can be used to understand and capture customer behavior, helping banks, financial institutions, and businesses identify new opportunities, make better decisions, and improve operational efficiency.

Implementing the national digital transformation program 2025, orientation 2030 and project 06, the Prime Minister also chose 2023 as the year of national digital data with the goal of creating and exploiting digital data to create new values.

Therefore, the State Bank of Vietnam has set out the task of synchronizing and standardizing technical infrastructure to facilitate seamless connectivity between the banking sector and other sectors, especially public administration, healthcare, and education, to create a digital ecosystem and provide multi-utility services to customers ,” Mr. Pham Tien Dung shared.

In Ho Chi Minh City, cashless payment activities in public services have also achieved many outstanding results. State agencies such as health, education, insurance, and customs have made cashless payments. Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to lead the country in cashless payments.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Dang Hoai Duc - Deputy General Director of Vietcombank said: Vietcombank is one of the leading banks in digital payment activities with a scale of nearly 20 million individual customers; more than 10 million customers using digital banking; total number of cards issued nearly 18 million cards; nearly 105,000 units accepting POS and Ecom card payments; transaction ratio on digital channels is 97%; payment turnover accounts for 23% of market share.

Vietcombank is providing digital payment services in all areas such as: public administration, social insurance, tax; healthcare (hospitals, medical centers, pharmacies, medical equipment suppliers, etc.); utility bill payment (electricity, water, telecommunications, service fees, etc.); education; transportation, logistics; investment, insurance, securities, etc.; shopping, entertainment, tourism, etc.

The goal by 2025, with a vision to 2030, is to build Vietcombank into the largest banking and financial group in Vietnam, leading in efficiency, quality of human resources and quality of risk management; leading in digital transformation in Vietnam and achieving the leading level of digital transformation maturity in the ASEAN region.

At the workshop, the Ho Chi Minh City 2023 digital platform was officially activated and put into operation to improve utilities to serve people and businesses and improve the quality of operations of state management agencies.

This platform includes 5 main systems: Administrative procedure settlement information system, socio-economic information synthesis system, system for receiving and processing feedback and recommendations from people and businesses, Ho Chi Minh City Digital Map system and Ho Chi Minh City digital transformation assessment system.

Within the framework of the event, Vietcombank also participated in the booth at the Technology Exhibition, introducing achievements as well as modern and convenient digital banking products and services of Vietcombank.
