SINGAPORE - Two diners were dining at a restaurant near a subway station when they discovered a large cockroach in their bowl of porridge.
Ailing Wong shared her story in a Facebook group, attracting the attention of netizens.
The incident happened on November 2, when this Singaporean woman and her friend were enjoying eight-treasure porridge at Chinese Garden restaurant.
Ms. Wong shared that after eating only a few spoonfuls, her friend discovered a cockroach about 2-3cm long in the bowl of brown porridge.
The discovery shocked both of them. Wong said this was the first time she had encountered such an incident. She usually visits this restaurant about once a month.
Many netizens expressed shock about this incident.
"Oh, if I had eaten the porridge in a dark place, I would have eaten a cockroach"; "So scary, we were planning to go to that restaurant yesterday"... netizens commented.
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it is investigating the incident.
SFA stressed that they take food safety very seriously and will consider all feedback regarding poor quality food.
