This is a major investigation in Italy into major fashion companies working with subcontractors with poor working conditions.

A Milan court has ordered the company Manufactures Dior SRL, owned by Christian Dior Italia SRL, to shut down after prosecutors alleged it employed illegal immigrants from China and the Philippines, Reuters reported. This is the third decision this year by a Milan court to monitor major fashion companies for labor violations.

Workers were reportedly forced to sleep in the factory because it operated 24 hours a day, with no days off. Safety devices were also removed from machines to speed up production.

The subcontractors, who saved on production costs, sold each bag to Dior for 53 euros (about 1.4 million VND). These bags were then sold in Dior stores for 2,600 euros (nearly 70 million VND). The investigation has a significant impact on a famous brand like Dior.

Immediately after the information was spread, the online community simultaneously broke out in controversy, many people harshly said: "branded goods are just a brand", "branded goods only sell brand value, not the real value of the product..."

Illegal labor is not a new problem for the fashion industry. Previously, the brand Giorgio Armani was also investigated by a Milan court for similar problems at its factories.

The incident also reflects a major problem in the global fashion industry, where many brands try to cut production costs by using illegal cheap labor, leading to damage to their reputation and competitiveness in the international market.
