On the afternoon of June 20, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with Tuoi Tre newspaper to organize a "Conference to review the cooperation program on goods quality control - launching the Green Tick for e-commerce responsibility".
E-commerce platforms join the fight against counterfeit goods
At the program, a number of e-commerce platforms such as TikTok, Tiki, Lazada, Shoppe... along with KOLs, KOCs, and manufacturers signed to participate in the Green Tick for e-commerce responsibility with the goal of tightening product quality and eliminating counterfeit goods.
Mr. Tran Lam Thanh, representative of TikTok Vietnam, said that with this commitment, TikTok will further increase training and dissemination of knowledge to KOLs, KOCs, manufacturers, and consumers about legal regulations in trade and business to minimize the situation of trading and producing counterfeit and poor quality goods.
The representative of this e-commerce platform acknowledged that counterfeit and poor quality goods cause great consequences for society, not only affecting finances and health but also causing a decline in the trust of the consumer community such as cases of refusing to drink milk, limiting shopping... Therefore, cleaning up the business environment is very necessary.
"The floor itself will tighten the input stage by requiring more paperwork related to products and manufacturers to increase transparency. At the same time, we will strongly remove brands that do not comply with regulations, even inviting state agencies to handle it," Mr. Thanh pledged.
Similarly, KOLs, KOCs and other e-commerce platforms also committed to working together to push back counterfeit and poor quality goods by enhancing professional training for sellers and tightening input - issues that help KOLs and KOCs avoid legal risks.
Thus, in addition to the traditional distribution channel, the blue tick model continues to be replicated in the e-commerce sector. According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, the special feature of the Responsible Blue Tick model is that the operating mechanism is based on the participation of the entire ecosystem - from state management agencies, consumers, the press, e-commerce platforms, sellers to KOCs.
All together monitor and cross-check each other in the spirit of transparency, honesty and respect for the community. The e-commerce platform will set an example of complying with the law, protecting consumers, handling violations, and supporting sellers to achieve blue tick standards.
The seller provides legal goods, transparent origin, price and information; does not advertise falsely. The affiliate marketer (KOC) communicates honestly, uses legal content, and only promotes products after experiencing them.
Sellers are more confident about their products
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, the fact that e-commerce platforms such as Tik Tok, Lazada, Shopee... have introduced more strict regulations to ensure that only quality products are available on the platform will help a lot in the fight against poor quality products.
From the perspective of a production unit, Ms. Le Thuy Chi, CEO of Can Gio Island Bird's Nest Company (HCMC), affirmed that she was very excited to participate in the Blue Tick Responsibility program because the problem of counterfeit and poor quality goods is greatly affecting legitimate businesses, and through the program, the unit is more confident in its products.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed that "Blue Tick for E-commerce Responsibility" is an initiative to reshape ethical standards and responsibility in the entire Vietnamese e-commerce ecosystem.
Accordingly, in the near future, the department will mobilize more units to participate so that the program can spread widely, coordinate with media agencies to publish related content. At the same time, it will also put forth additional requirements on human resource training, solutions to prevent counterfeit and poor quality goods... for participating units.
"Participating units will have additional benefits such as support from KOLs and KOCs; manufacturers will be given priority by e-commerce platforms in sales, ensuring legitimate rights," said Mr. Hung.
The Responsible Green Tick Program was launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade in March 2024 and currently has 11 participating distribution systems with 321 suppliers and 2,223 approved product codes.
