Standing tall for more than a century at sea

Ke Ga Lighthouse is a lighthouse on the island of the same name, built by the French colonialists in the late 19th century on an area of about 5 hectares. The majestic lighthouse, hundreds of years old with its ancient beauty, has become one of the well-known symbols of tourism in Ham Thuan Nam district in particular and Binh Thuan province in general. This island is about 30km from the center of Phan Thiet city. The lighthouse was designed by French architect - Mr. Chnavat and was built entirely from granite materials brought from France to Vietnam. The purpose of building Ke Ga Lighthouse at that time was to meet the transportation needs of the French colonialists as well as foreign merchant ships when passing through Vietnam's waters. With more than 120 years old, Ke Ga Lighthouse has been a witness to history, witnessing many changes of our nation, through the war it still stands there. This is also the lighthouse recognized by Vietnam Records as the oldest in Vietnam. Because the island is close to the shore, this lighthouse can be seen very clearly from the mainland. Ke Ga Lighthouse is designed in an octagonal shape, about 35m high, and if calculated from sea level to the top, it is about 65m (equivalent to a 12-storey building). The size of each side of this lighthouse is about 3m wide, the top is 2.5m wide, the thickness of the wall from the foot to a height of 6m is 1.6m, the higher the wall, the thicker the wall will be, from 1.5m to 1m. On top of the lighthouse is a large light bulb with a capacity of 2,000W, with a very large light radius, up to 22 nautical miles (equivalent to about 40km). Therefore, this lighthouse is very important for ships when moving at night, helping them determine direction and move safely, limiting incidents and accidents at sea. The next special feature in the design of Ke Ga Lighthouse is the use of granite - a type of stone imported from France. During the construction process, these giant stones were carved very delicately and meticulously, forming rectangular squares and then fitted together without the need for mortar. To reach the top of Ke Ga Lighthouse, you need to climb 183 steps made of steel so it is very sturdy. The spiral staircase is extremely eye-catching, very suitable for you to "live virtual". From the top of the tower, you can take in all the beauty of this island, see the gentle sea, see the mainland in the distance. Especially watching the sunset and sunrise on the top of the lighthouse is a wonderful scene. Besides the historical and cultural values, in fact, in terms of architecture and art, no one can deny the beauty of the lighthouse. On the other hand, Ke Ga lighthouse is also considered a product of cultural exchange and integration between Vietnam and Western culture in the late 19th century, represented by French culture.

With the advantage of being only 30 km from Phan Thiet city, Ke Ga lighthouse is located right next to the coast with its wild natural beauty and is being sought after by many tourists, especially those who like to explore new places. Ke Ga lighthouse is a structure that is shaped like a chicken's head when viewed from afar, combined with the rugged rocky terrain, creating a very unique feature. Not only having maritime significance, the lighthouse is also an architectural heritage with a strong historical imprint. Today, this place has become an attractive tourist destination, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to explore and admire the wild and majestic beauty in the middle of the vast ocean. To go to Ke Ga Island, there are currently canoes serving tourists from Tan Thanh Beach (Ke Ga) to go to the island to visit the lighthouse, on the island you can watch the sunrise or sunset. What makes a special impression on tourists when arriving at Mui Ke Ga is the rocky beaches lying as if ready on the beach. The rocks of all sizes, large and small, round and square, short and long, lie on the beach as if "laying out troops". The locals here liken it to a rock garden. Some rocky outcrops jutting out into the sea are used as ideal fishing spots. In addition to the rocky beaches, the sea here also has beautiful, clean white sand beaches suitable for tourists to swim, sunbathe and participate in campfire activities, outdoor parties.
