Before the match against Vietnam at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Tuesday night (June 10), the Malaysian dressing room welcomed a special guest. That was the King Regent, heir to the throne of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. He held the role of President of the Football Association of Malaysia from 2017-18 and is currently the President of Johor Darul Ta'zim Club.
Surrounded by the coaching staff and players, Tunku Ismail Idris gave an emotional speech lasting more than a minute, in which he stressed that the players have a mission to take the national team to a new level.
"We are in a revolution to take Malaysian football further. There are some people who do not believe in the plan, but it does not matter, we are making a difference and what we do is more important than what they think," said the Regent of Johor state, who supports the naturalization policy. "It is time for us to show everyone our true capabilities. For the great responsibility to the country, you must show your bravery, fighting spirit with all your confidence."

The Malaysian team surprised everyone with what they showed in the victory over the Vietnamese team. |
According to Tunku Ismail Idris, the best way to put an end to criticism and convince everyone to believe in the naturalization policy that Malaysian football is pursuing is to perform on the pitch.
"No matter what we plan, what we build, it is all meaningless if we do not produce results or achievements. Remember, if we can change the status quo of Malaysian football or not, it is all thanks to you. No one else but you will be the heroes."
As seen, the Malayan Tigers were surprisingly dominant and won 4-0, ending a decade without a win against Vietnam. They also rose to the top of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with 6 points, 3 points ahead of Vietnam and Laos.
