Considered a "miniature Sahara desert," Nam Cuong sand dunes (An Hai commune, Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province) are located about 7km southeast of Phan Rang-Thap Cham city center.

Visitors coming here will be amazed by the vast stretches of sand, stacked on top of each other in layers like undulating waves.
Just a passing breeze, the sand dunes begin to change, flexibly creating new shapes.
The special thing about Nam Cuong is not only its ever-changing shape but also its color that changes depending on location, angle and time of day.
The blend of sand patches with light and dark tones, from orange yellow to dark orange, and lines varying from straight to soft curves, all are masterpieces created by the sun and wind.
Not only does it have long stretches of sand, Nam Cuong sand dunes are also surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape creating a harmonious "mini desert".

Standing on top of a high sand dune, visitors can gaze out at the vast blue East Sea, admire the majestic Cha Bang mountain range or immerse themselves in the peaceful scenery of Cham villages, green rice fields and fruit-laden orchards along the road leading to the sand dunes, creating an exciting journey of discovery.
To protect and promote the value of Nam Cuong sand dunes in the period of 2025-2030, Ninh Thuan province has proposed a plan to exploit the tourism potential of this area with a total area of 70 hectares; of which the area of flying sand is 26 hectares, the area of remaining casuarina forest is 44 hectares.
Nam Cuong sand dunes not only have valuable natural resources but also possess unique landscapes and terrain. This is an important premise for developing types of exploration and experience tourism on the sand, contributing to attracting tourists to the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province informed that the People's Committee of the province assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and related departments, branches and localities to synchronously deploy 3 groups of tasks and 7 groups of solutions.
In particular, the tasks and solutions focus on protecting the boundary of Nam Cuong sand dunes managed by the locality; proactively detecting, promptly preventing, and strictly handling cases of illegal mineral exploitation; encouraging businesses, organizations, and individuals to participate in appropriate tourism activities on the basis of preserving and promoting the values of natural resources, creating a healthy cultural environment at Nam Cuong sand dunes.
The Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion is assigned to coordinate with units to organize promotional activities, attract investment in the entertainment and sports tourism area at Nam Cuong sand hill.
In the immediate future, the locality will focus on mobilizing resources to support investment in upgrading infrastructure, transportation systems, preserving the environmental landscape, and rationally exploiting natural resources to develop experiential activities such as sand sliding, driving cars on sand, flying kites, taking check-in photos, and connecting Nam Cuong sand dunes with neighboring tourist attractions to attract visitors.
Strengthening the protection and promotion of the value of Nam Cuong sand dunes helps Ninh Thuan tourism diversify new and attractive tourism products. The sand dunes will become a unique ecological destination, attracting nature-loving tourists.
At the same time, responsible tourism exploitation will create a stable source of income, contributing to improving the lives of local people. Thereby, Ninh Thuan tourism will increasingly develop sustainably and become highly competitive on the Vietnamese tourism map.

Located in the Central Coast region, Ninh Thuan is known as "The land of convergence of different values" because of the unique combination of wild, majestic natural landscapes and diverse cultural heritage.
Seizing this advantage, the province is focusing on developing three main tourism product groups: Group I includes four specific products: sea-based resort tourism; Cham heritage cultural tourism; high-tech agricultural tourism; and eco-tourism associated with the Nui Chua world biosphere reserve.
Group II includes four novel products: sand-salt discovery and entertainment tourism, which are two strengths of Ninh Thuan; semi-wild hunting tourism; railway experience tourism; and health care and convalescence tourism.
Group III includes 4 complementary products: community tourism; entertainment and culinary tourism; renewable energy production sightseeing tourism; and tourism trade.
Ninh Thuan province aims to welcome 3.5 million visitors by 2025, with tourism revenue reaching VND2,900 billion. By 2030, it will welcome 6 million visitors, with tourism revenue reaching VND5,900 billion, making tourism a truly spearhead economic sector, contributing about 15% of GRDP.
