According to the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), at 1:15 p.m. today (June 2), the electricity consumption capacity in 27 provinces/cities in the Northern region managed by the Corporation (from Ha Tinh and beyond, excluding Hanoi ) reached 17,400 MW, exceeding the highest peak of 2024 (recorded at 10:00 p.m. on August 10, 2024 at 17,300 MW), up 0.1% over the previous year.
According to the representative of EVNNPC, today's temperature is the same as yesterday (June 1), however, because yesterday was a holiday, the consumption mainly came from daily activities and services. Today, entering the first working day of the week, the entire production sector and offices resumed operations, causing the total electricity consumption to increase dramatically.
This is the first widespread heat wave in 2025 and it is forecasted that this summer will see many more intense heat waves. In this context, EVNNPC is making efforts to ensure safe, stable and continuous power supply for more than 11 million customers in the area.
However, to prevent the risk of local grid overload in some residential and urban areas, as well as to ensure safe operation of the power system, EVNNPC recommends that customers use electricity safely, economically and effectively, especially during peak hours at noon (13:00-15:00) and in the evening (20:00-23:00).
Along with that, use air conditioning reasonably, set the temperature at 27°C or higher, combine with a fan and close the room door to increase cooling efficiency; Limit the use of many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time, avoid the risk of overload, incidents, and fires in the household./.
