The victim was Nguyen Anh Tuan, born in 2006, residing in Hai Tan area, Quang Ha town. Tuan's body was found by authorities and local people in the downstream area of Nui Chua dam, in village 7, Quang Chinh commune, on the Tai Chi river.
As reported, at around 4:45 p.m. on May 21, a group of 7 young people and students went swimming at Hai An Dam, Quang Thanh Commune. At the time they were swimming, it was not raining and the water was shallow, however, the flood came suddenly and swept them away. Authorities and local people promptly rescued 3 children and took them to the Hai Ha District Medical Center for emergency treatment, including: Hoang Chu Duc Thuan, born in 2008, residing in Village 8, Quang Minh Commune; Ton Tuan Kiet, born in 2009, residing in Quang Linh Village, Quang Minh Commune; Nguyen Van Hao, born in 2007, residing in Village 8, Quang Minh Commune.
At around 8:40 p.m. on May 21, authorities found the bodies of two children, Truong Dai Khoi, born in 2009, residing in village 9, Quang Minh commune, and Bui Trong Quan, born in 2009, residing in Quang Linh village, Quang Minh commune.
At 3:45 p.m. on May 22, authorities found the body of Nguyen Hoang Ninh, born in 2009, residing in village 2, Quang Minh commune.
On May 22, Hai Ha district leaders visited, encouraged and shared with the families of the drowning victims. In order to share and promptly support the difficulties and losses, Hai Ha district supported each family of the drowning victims with 20 million VND and supported 3 million VND for the 3 survivors who are currently being treated at Hai Ha District Medical Center.
Quang Ninh province also supported each family of drowning victims with 25 million VND. This is a source of encouragement, concern and sharing from all levels and sectors, hoping that the families will soon overcome the pain of loss.
