The relationship between Vietnam and Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is a traditional and strong friendship, built on the foundation of mutual trust and respect. The Vietnamese people will always remember the great and valuable support that the people of the former Soviet Union gave Vietnam during the years of resistance for independence, as well as in the post-war reconstruction of the country. The friendship between the Vietnamese people and these countries is clearly demonstrated through the beautiful memories of many Vietnamese students who have lived and studied in the countries of the former Soviet Union, considering these countries as their second homeland. These sincere feelings are the solid foundation for the relationship between Vietnam and traditional friends to develop further.

The Vietnamese people will forever remember the great and valuable support that the people of the Soviet Union (formerly) gave Vietnam during the years of resistance for independence, as well as in the country's reconstruction after the war. |
Having established diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1992, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan all consider Vietnam an important partner in the Southeast Asian region. Vietnam and these countries maintain delegation exchanges, high-level contacts and all-level contacts, and closely coordinate at multilateral forums and international organizations. Trade and economic cooperation activities are increasingly vibrant.
With Belarus, the Communist Party of Vietnam has a traditional relationship with the Communist Party of Belarus; there are meetings and contacts with the Belarusian "Bach Nga" Party. The delegation of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus recently came to Vietnam to attend the Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) - an event of great significance, marking the glorious victory of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence, freedom and national reunification. The participation of the Belarusian delegation not only shows the country's respect for the heroic history of the Vietnamese people, but is also a vivid demonstration of the traditional and strong friendship between the two countries. Currently, the two countries maintain the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism. Bilateral trade turnover is about 100 million USD/year.
Despite the geographical distance, Vietnam and Kazakhstan share favorable conditions for developing bilateral relations. The two countries are gateways to the ASEAN region and Central Asia, receiving many cooperation opportunities from the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement. Bilateral trade in 2024 is expected to reach 800 million USD. The two sides launched the first official direct flight in November 2022; the number of Kazakhstani tourists to Vietnam has increased sharply in recent times. In his congratulatory message to Vietnam on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Kazakhstani Ambassador to Vietnam Kanat Tumysh expressed his deep pride in being born in 1975 - the year of Vietnam's reunification, and expressed his joy at Vietnam's strong development steps. The Ambassador believes that Vietnam's current reform efforts will achieve good results, bringing the country into a new era of development.
Vietnam and Azerbaijan have a long-standing relationship, which was personally nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev, along with many generations of leaders of the two countries. The Communist Party of Vietnam has good relations with the new ruling party of Azerbaijan. Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 reached nearly 52 million USD.
On the occasion of Vietnam's 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day, expressing his joy at experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of the important holiday of the Vietnamese people, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Vietnam Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade shared with VNA: "I saw many people walking and taking photos on the street, especially at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Many children wore shirts printed with the Vietnamese flag. At that moment, I also wanted to go out to share the feelings of pride and joy with all the people."
Overcoming all historical changes and geographical distances, the traditional cooperative and friendly relations between Vietnam and its friends and partners in the former Soviet Union are developing rapidly, bringing benefits to the people. The sincere affection and wholehearted support of traditional friends are also provisions for Vietnam to confidently step into the era of national development.
