Trade Union organization cares for and protects the legitimate rights and interests of workers.

Vietnam Trade Union is a large political and social organization of the working class and laborers, voluntarily established by laborers to gather, unite forces, and build a strong working class. Based on the requirements and revolutionary tasks in each period, the role of Vietnam Trade Union is constantly developing and expanding. In the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration, the role of Vietnam Trade Union is demonstrated in the fields of politics , economics, ideology, culture and society.

In Kien Giang , in April 1976, the Provincial Party Committee decided to establish the Provincial Trade Union, with comrade Duong Tan Phat - Provincial Party Committee member as the provisional Trade Union Secretary. By the end of 1976, the entire province had established 3 industry Trade Unions, 62 grassroots trade unions, with about 6,000 union members.

On July 25, 1977, the 1st Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 1977-1980; 220 delegates representing about 6,000 union members and nearly 30,000 workers attended. To date, the Provincial Trade Union has organized 11 congresses, each congress is a milestone affirming the growth of the working class and the sustainable development of trade union organizations in the province.

The contingent of cadres, union members and workers increasingly has strong political will and ideology; has a spirit of solidarity and mutual love; is exemplary in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws. Workers and workers enthusiastically compete in labor, production, and improving their skills, especially workers and workers in industries and occupations such as seafood processing, construction, trade, services, tourism, etc., directly contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the development of the Trade Union organization.

The whole Kien Giang province has 11,421 operating enterprises, with registered capital of over 197,600 billion VND, the workforce of workers, civil servants, and employees working in agencies, units, and enterprises with Trade Union organizations is 79,425.

After 48 years of construction, growth and development (1976-2024), with 11 congresses, Kien Giang Trade Union has performed well its functions of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; participating in state management and socio-economic management. At the same time, it propagates and mobilizes union members and workers to study, improve their qualifications and professional skills, comply with the law, build and protect the Fatherland, thereby making workers, civil servants and workers trust and stick with the Trade Union organization, strive to overcome all difficulties, and are determined to build a rich, democratic, civilized and happy homeland.

In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to innovate the content and methods of Trade Union activities at all levels; promote the development of union members in all economic sectors; improve the qualifications, political capacity, and operational efficiency of Trade Union officials; and build a strong Trade Union organization. Trade Unions at all levels will actively participate in Party and government building; effectively perform the role of a bridge, maintaining close ties between Party committees and governments with workers and laborers, contributing to building a modern and strong working class, a pioneering force in carrying out the task of rapid and sustainable development of the country.

The Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor strengthens propaganda and education work, promotes activities to represent and protect the legitimate and legal rights and care for the practical interests of workers; launches emulation movements for good workers, creative workers, develops production, ensures employment, increases income and improves working conditions; encourages union members and workers to overcome difficulties and strive to successfully achieve the socio-economic development goals of the province.

In the 2023-2028 term, the Provincial Federation of Labor aims to have 90,000 or more union members; strive for at least 85% of enterprises and units with union organizations that are qualified to represent, negotiate, and sign collective labor agreements in accordance with the law; strive for 75% of cases of union members and union organizations that need advice and litigation on legal and legitimate rights and interests to have union representatives participate or receive support from the union.

The Provincial Federation of Labor strives to have 90% or more of grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises eligible to establish mass women's unions according to the provisions of the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union; 100% of grassroots trade unions directing and operating activities in cyberspace; 75% or more of union members proficiently using online public services related to regimes and policies for workers.

The Provincial Federation of Labor has implemented breakthroughs including focusing on performing the task of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, focusing on dialogue, negotiation, and signing of collective labor agreements in units and enterprises; innovating the operation methods of trade unions at all levels in the province, focusing on digital transformation in trade union activities.

Trade unions at all levels identify the representation, protection of legitimate and legal rights and interests, and contribution to improving the quality of life of union members and workers as the top priority task, a regular activity, which needs to be prioritized and all resources focused on. Proactively participate in contributing to policies related to union members and workers, pay attention to policies for female workers, workers in arduous and hazardous industries, etc.; grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers, the situation of labor relations, production, business, and implementation of the regime and policies of enterprises. At the same time, continue to coordinate with competent agencies to strengthen the work of social supervision and criticism according to Decision No. 217/QD-TW, dated December 12, 2013 of the Politburo promulgating the regulations on social supervision and criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to protect the rights of union members and workers.

The Provincial Federation of Labor continues to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work to implement Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW, dated January 28, 2008 of the Party Central Committee on continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization of the country, Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation; promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, in conjunction with implementing Resolution of the 12th Central Committee, Session 4, on strengthening Party building and rectification, preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" among cadres, union members and workers.

Strengthen the protection of the values of the Vietnam Trade Union and improve political capacity, educational level, professional level, understanding of policies and regimes related to workers. Propaganda, mobilize, encourage union members and workers to actively study to improve their educational level and professional skills to adapt to working conditions and the fourth industrial revolution.

The Provincial Federation of Labor directs all levels of the Trade Union to mobilize union members to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, good workers, creative workers; promote initiatives, technical improvements; be good at national affairs, good at housework; green, clean, beautiful, ensure safety and hygiene at work; promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, associated with the campaign to build loyal, responsible, honest and creative cadres, civil servants and public employees; build Vietnamese women of the new era; the emulation movement "Skillful mass mobilization"...

Trade unions at all levels improve the quality of women's work; implement gender equality; enhance care and protection of female workers' rights; strengthen coordination with the Committee for the Advancement of Women and the Women's Union at the same level to effectively integrate the activities of the Women's Union with women's work activities; continue to implement Resolution No. 12b/NQ-BCH, dated July 12, 2017 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on mass women's work committees in non-state enterprises.

Pay attention to building a strong Trade Union organization, mobilizing and attracting workers in enterprises to join the Vietnam Trade Union, associated with doing well the work of developing union members, establishing grassroots unions. Focus on developing union members among direct production workers in the non-state sector, workers in the informal sector, technology workers... towards establishing an industrial park union under the Provincial Labor Federation.

Trade Unions at all levels actively participate in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, resolutely fight against and refute erroneous and hostile viewpoints against the Party, the State and the Trade Union organization, in conjunction with implementing Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018 of the Politburo on strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation. Each level of Trade Union needs to do a good job of detecting and fighting corruption, negativity, bureaucracy, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization.
