Solemnly held the memorial service for comrade Le Phuoc Tho, former Head of the Central Organizing Committee

(CTO) - At exactly 6:00 a.m. on July 9, at the Can Tho City Party Committee Hall, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held a memorial service and sent off comrade Le Phuoc Tho, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Organization Committee, to his final resting place, according to the State Funeral ceremony.

Attending the funeral were former President Nguyen Minh Triet; former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission; General Le Hong Anh, former Politburo member, former Standing member of the Secretariat; Comrade Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Comrade Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Attending the funeral and farewell ceremony for comrade Le Phuoc Tho were also comrades leading central agencies, leaders of localities nationwide and Can Tho City; and family and friends of comrade Le Phuoc Tho.

In deep emotion and sorrow, comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Head of the Funeral Committee, read the eulogy, reviewing the life, revolutionary career and great contributions of comrade Le Phuoc Tho to the Party, State and nation.

The eulogy reads: Comrade Le Phuoc Tho was an outstanding leader, with great prestige for the Party, State and People, a loyal communist party member, who devoted his whole life and sacrificed for the ideals of national independence and socialism, for the happiness of the people. His life spanned nearly a century, associated with many ups and downs in the history of the country, the people and his homeland in the Southwest region, until holding important positions in the Party and State, no matter what the circumstances, he always maintained the steadfast will of a communist soldier, overcame all hardships and challenges, successfully completed the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, devoted much enthusiasm to the work of organizing cadres, building a clean and strong Party.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai emphasized: In her position as a Party worker, she has made many contributions to the development and concretization of the Party Congress's guidelines and resolutions, and directed the implementation of the resolutions of the Central Executive Committee and the Politburo in various fields of work, in the renovation process, especially in Party building. Regardless of her leadership position or position, Comrade Le Phuoc Tho is always trusted by the organization and leaders of the Party and State; and is evaluated by comrades, colleagues, and friends as an upright, honest, fair-minded, conscientious, and highly responsible person. Generations of the Central Organizing Committee and cadres of the southwestern provinces consider her an exemplary model of loyalty and dedication to the cause of the Party, the country, and the people. In daily life, he is always close and sincere with his comrades and colleagues, has a modest and simple lifestyle, a tolerant, loving and sharing heart, and is loved and respected by cadres, party members and colleagues.

"When he was old and in poor health, comrade Le Phuoc Tho still had a heart for the Party's cause. Even though he had retired, he still had many articles and interviews, and when meeting visiting cadres, he always reminded them to pay attention to and focus on the work of organizing cadres and building the Party," comrade Truong Thi Mai was moved. The eulogy also emphasized that comrade Le Phuoc Tho had spent nearly a century striving tirelessly, fulfilling his responsibilities as a cadre and party member, being absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, always dedicated to his work, always ready to receive and complete well all assigned tasks.

Comrade Le Phuoc Tho (commonly known as Sau Hau), born on December 25, 1927; hometown: Tan Loc commune, Ca Mau district, Minh Hai province (now Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province); permanent residence at Le Lai street, An Phu ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city; participated in the August 1945 revolution; joined the Party on February 10, 1949. He was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term IV; member of the Party Central Committee, term V, VI, VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI, VII; member of the Politburo, term VII; National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX. For his many contributions and outstanding achievements to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, he was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State; 75-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and awards.

After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, the collective of professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 1:46 a.m. on July 6, 2023 at his home, at the age of 96. To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Le Phuoc Tho, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to organize the funeral of comrade Le Phuoc Tho with the rites of a State funeral.

On behalf of the family, Mr. Le Hung Dung, the eldest son of comrade Le Phuoc Tho, expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of central agencies and provinces and cities; relatives, friends... who organized the funeral, visited, sent wreaths, visited, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Standing emotionally in front of the coffin, Mr. Le Hung Dung and his family vowed to follow the example, live a useful life for the homeland and country, especially continuing the charity work of comrade Le Phuoc Tho.

Immediately after the memorial service, comrade Le Phuoc Tho's coffin was moved to the hearse. This was followed by the funeral procession. Comrade Le Phuoc Tho's burial took place on the same day at his hometown cemetery in Hamlet 5, Tan Loc Dong Commune, Thoi Binh District, Ca Mau Province.
