WWF countries pledge to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam on environment and climate

At the meeting with the Directors of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF): Ms. Tanya Steele, CEO of WWF UK; Ms. Marcene Mitchell, Senior Vice President of Climate Change WWF USA; Mr. Ajs Dam, Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships WWF Denmark and Mr. Van Ngoc Thinh, CEO of WWF Vietnam, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh highly appreciated the support of WWF for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in recent times, such as projects and activities in the fields of climate change response, plastic pollution management and biodiversity conservation.

Minister Dang Quoc Khanh highly appreciated the support of WWF for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in recent times, such as projects and activities in the fields of climate change response, plastic pollution management and biodiversity conservation.

In the increasingly developing cooperative relationship between the Ministry and WWF organizations of other countries, the Minister requested WWF to coordinate and support the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in a number of contents such as developing and implementing nature-based solutions (NBS); negotiating to join the Global Agreement on Plastic Pollution and plastic pollution management programs at the central and local levels; implementing the revised Law on Water Resources and related programs of the National Strategy on Biodiversity Conservation.

WWF leaders from various countries also pledged to actively contribute to the joint efforts of Vietnam and the world to build a prosperous society with high resilience to environmental pollution and climate change.

Leaders of WWF UK, USA, Denmark and Vietnam pledged to work closely together to mobilize green finance to serve Vietnam's sustainable development goals such as equitable energy transition, utilizing and promoting biodiversity resources, building and developing biodiversity conservation areas and national parks, etc. Thereby introducing a platform to mobilize climate change adaptation finance for vulnerable areas such as the Central Truong Son and Southern Truong Son regions of Vietnam.

At the same time, WWF leaders from various countries also pledged to actively contribute to the joint efforts of Vietnam and the world to build a prosperous society with high resilience to environmental pollution and climate change through regional, cross-border, and transnational projects with a focus on sharing experiences and technology.
